“I wish I could live a thousand lives so I could fall in love with you a thousand times.” SABAA TAHIR YOU HAVE UTTERLY WRECKED MY ENTIRE BEING!! I started crying around part five and I fear I never stopped. And if my tears ever slowed there would be a line that would make me start sobbing all over again. This entire series culminating to this conclusion was heart wrenching. So many lives lost for this war that began before our main characters were even thought of but they have suffer the consequences. Every time I think of everything Laia, Helene, and Elias went through and all they had to sacrifice I want to burst into tears. I love these characters so much when they hurt I hurt and that was evident throughout this book. All I wanted was for these characters to have a happy ending and live a life with at least a semblance of peace. They had to endure so much pain and travesty that my heart hurts for them. Saba Tahir you will pay for your crimes jk. I’m in awe of the world she was able to create and all the characters that I’m heartbroken to leave behind. This book destroyed me so kudos to you.
Harbor Me by Jacqueline Woodson

Jaqueline Woodson is truly amazing in how she can break your heart and put it back together within the same book. A heartbreaking and heartwarming story about kids who all are struggling with different turmoil but learn to lean on each other. The whole message of harboring the people around you that Woodson highlights throughout the entire book was absolutely beautiful. I can always count on Jacqueline Woodson’s books to make me feel so deeply and pull out the ugly crying.

I loved You Should See Me in a Crown so much that I preordered this book right when it was announced. I’m so sad that this book and I just didn’t click. One of the main characters, Olivia, was the definition of a hot mess, a lovable hot mess though. At times I wanted to strangle her and at times I wanted to give her the biggest of hugs there was no in between. With the conflict between her and her best friend, Imani, I honestly felt so bad for Imani because to be constantly discarded by your best friend as if you’re not a priority to her must feel terrible. Olivia just needed to feel loved and she would go on a war path to find it. I couldn’t even be mad at her I just felt bad for her too. Usually I’m a defender for the insta love trope but I felt if the characters had more time together the connection between Olivia and Toni would have been stronger and more believable. I didn’t feel much when they reconnected at the end. I will admit that it was very fluffy though. Another gripe I had with this book is that I felt that Leah Johnson compiled a list of controversial topics and her goal was to cram each and every one in this book. I think if she just chose one important issue to focus on her message would have meant so much more to readers. The funny thing is that even through all the mess I had a fun time reading this story. So if you want to read the blossoming romance of a chaotic, self-destructive bisexual and a closed off lesbian look no further.

This story is powerful in the way it deals with issues that unfortunately many women face and it shows how the world views and reacts to them afterwards. This book felt so raw and the conflicting emotions that our main character, Mara, went through with the Owen that she knows as her other half and the Owen that is capable of rape. Mara’s pain just felt so real it was like she had this weight pressing in on her and it was suffocating to see things from her perspective. Throughout this whole book I felt for her. I wanted to everything to be tied up in this book in a neat bow but that’s just now how the world works. So the ending felt so realistic in how Mara and Hannah got not justice but just had to learn how to cope with what these men took from them. It truly conveyed perfectly the upsetting reality of the world that women have to navigate.
Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake

This book embodied the message of the classic song, “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” from the iconic Hannah Montana Movie. This book had such a wholesome nature in its entirety. Delilah was such a complex character and I loved being in her head for most of the book. Her relationship with Astrid was made to be simple at first with Delilah thinking that her sister thought she was better than her and not worth her time. But Delilah slowly realizing that it was so much more complicated was so well crafted by the author. That scene between Astrid and Delilah during the gallery was such a heartfelt moment that showed the growth that these two experienced. Delilah and Claire being almost polar opposites made for such a cute pairing but both of them wanting to be loved but being so scared to open up with another person made my heart break for them. The romance was everything I hoped for. Delilah finally finding her place in and being able to actually feel at home in Bright Falls made my little heart sing.

THE SMUT IN THIS BOOK HAD ME CLUTCHING MY PEARLS! I’m not going to lie usually I skip over sex scenes in romance books (gasp I know) but these ones were so juicy that I was tuned in. The chemistry between Sloan and Rafe was just everything like they were on 100 the first time they spoke to each other. They way they couldn’t control themselves and were hooking up by Rafe’s second day on the job was kind of iconic. I’m the #1 hater for slow burns so I couldn’t be happier. Their dynamic was just so cute I loved seeing the man in the relationship taking on the main caregiver role and the woman bringing home the bacon. A hot, tall man with tattoos who’s actually a sweetheart who cooks and bakes in his free time = my type of a man. Rafe I will miss you. Sloan was just the girl boss of the century she was Cristina Yang x100. Avery and Addison were the cutest little girls and I just wanted to pinch their little cheeks. I really liked Rebekah Weatherspoon incorporated them into the story and their personality really shined. If Sloan is named after Mark Sloan aka McSteamy from Grey’s Anatomy then Rebekah Weatherspoon that’s very queenie of you.

Thank you Rebekah Weatherspoon for introducing me to the A1 trope that is marriage of inconvenience. Mason just made me swoon throughout the entire book. If Mason declared his love to me with his Scottish accent I would have folded immediately so I completely understand Xeni. Mason and Xeni were just perfect together and I knew I was going to love them as soon as I read their wedding scene. I just love how much depth they were given with such little page count. I felt like I’m coming out of this book knowing who Xeni and Mason are, they didn’t feel one dimensional and I love that for me. I’m always going to be the #1 defender for insta love like I’m sorry it can be a serve with the right author. Sometimes I just want to read about couples being in love and happy for most of the book sorry not sorry.

Yami being brave enough to finally give Bo her grand romantic gesture just like in the movies that she’s always wanted was just everything, I teared up a little.
Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

This was the conclusion that Aristotle and Dante deserved and I can say confidently that this sequel served its purpose in my eyes. Seeing Ari’s growth and him allowing himself to let people in was so heartwarming. The moments that Ari and Dante shared together just felt so sacred. The love they had for each other felt so pure and it’s sad that these two boys in love couldn’t show their love publicly. This just made the last scenes in this book that much more rewarding. Benjamin Alire Saenz’s writing is breathtaking, it’s like he lures you in with these flowery words and metaphors. I can’t help but think that it’s extraordinary that a human being has a mind that can come up with this.
I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver

This is so odd because I feel as if this book has all the makings to be a five star read but I was just never invested while reading it. The main character, Ben, and I just didn’t click. I found them to be a bit annoying at times but also they were going through it so I’m going to let them slide. Nathan, the love interest, almost felt too perfect. I felt that he had no flaws and no problems. He never had an issue with how Ben treated him badly and ignored him and was always there for Ben when they weren’t there for him. I just found it to be unrealistic. I wanted more from the characterization from other people in the story besides Ben. They didn’t feel real they were just chess pieces needed to be moved around in order for the story to continue. This book is so important and reading about how Mason Deaver writing that they needed when they were younger warmed my heart. I’m so happy that this book was published but I have to just accept that it wasn’t the book for me.
