This story is powerful in the way it deals with issues that unfortunately many women face and it shows how the world views and reacts to them afterwards. This book felt so raw and the conflicting emotions that our main character, Mara, went through with the Owen that she knows as her other half and the Owen that is capable of rape. Mara’s pain just felt so real it was like she had this weight pressing in on her and it was suffocating to see things from her perspective. Throughout this whole book I felt for her. I wanted to everything to be tied up in this book in a neat bow but that’s just now how the world works. So the ending felt so realistic in how Mara and Hannah got not justice but just had to learn how to cope with what these men took from them. It truly conveyed perfectly the upsetting reality of the world that women have to navigate.
