A very young girl becomes Queen Ahmose of Egypt. The main duty is to give the Pharaoh a son. She avoids this because her closest friend died in childbirth which scared her. Meanwhile, Pharaoh takes her sister as a mistress. Lots of tension and competition between the two ladies. Her sister gives the Pharaoh three sons. The book is well written and talks about a lot of the culture of Egypt and their ways. It was interesting. Queen Ahmose does find the courage to become a mom but gives birth to a girl, Hatshepsut. Pharaoh refuses to accept her as the heir and one day ruler. Queen Ahmose believes she will rule because she has a male soul. More turmoil begins and keeps you turning the pages. I now want to read the next one.

One of the most interesting and thought provoking books I have read. You never know the main character's name. Very interesting writing. It is based in Stockholm, Sweden. The man works in a video store and leads a simple life. He receives an invoice from the National Bureaucratic Agency. He keeps calling the hotline to find out why his is so high. Keeps talking to a certain lady. How much would you pay for a memory or the steps of your life? The man sees everything in such a positive way that his bill keeps increasing. Short fun read that keeps you turning the pages to find out why and how can he pay the invoice. Loved it!

A quick read and excellent murder mystery. The ending has me wondering if there will be another one. Very good. Like the characters and the whole plot story. Fun to read these short ones in between the lengthy books. Glad he began writing these. Great writer as always.

This was a short read. Set in 1952. On the beach of Chesapeake Bay. Two middle aged ladies and two young kids around 7. They go to the beach and make a sand castle together and discuss the past and current times. Good family time. The ladies are hilarious. The two kids are cousins and bicker like siblings. Great book. Definitely reading more in this series.

Chasing after a killer while dealing with a rundown house is definitely interesting. I would not want to deal with the problems her old house has. Who the killer was kept me guessing, but I did figure out who the other guy was. Don't want to give away anything. Great characters and great writing. Love this author's books. I have read a few. Highly recommend this one.

This is about a 7 year old boy who encounters magical people. Lots of magical twists and turns. Loved the story. Well written. Kept me turning the page. Author has a terrific fun, loving imagination. Definitely a must read. I think magical people watching out for you would be awesome. I checked this out from the library and didn't realize I had shelved it to read long time ago in Goodreads. Check it out!

Loved this book, didn't give 5 stars only because there was some confusing parts in the beginning. Lots of interesting characters that are fun and real. Friendships, little romance, and several murders mixed with time travel and a treasure hunt. Love the setting in Prague and the castles. The villain is an intriguing character with a KGB past. Lots of fun reading. Terrifically wrote! Recommend!
