The Sekhmet Bed by Libbie Hawker, L.M. Ironside
5.0
A very young girl becomes Queen Ahmose of Egypt. The main duty is to give the Pharaoh a son. She avoids this because her closest friend died in childbirth which scared her. Meanwhile, Pharaoh takes her sister as a mistress. Lots of tension and competition between the two ladies. Her sister gives the Pharaoh three sons. The book is well written and talks about a lot of the culture of Egypt and their ways. It was interesting. Queen Ahmose does find the courage to become a mom but gives birth to a girl, Hatshepsut. Pharaoh refuses to accept her as the heir and one day ruler. Queen Ahmose believes she will rule because she has a male soul. More turmoil begins and keeps you turning the pages. I now want to read the next one.
