Harry Bosch at his best as we have come to like him, incredible how often the same cop can be under investigation by internal affairs, they must have a,special bench just for him.

Michael Connelly's crime books are what the "police procedurals" genre on TV should aspire to be. He crafts realistic situations with realistic dialogue. His protagonist, Harry Bosch, is easily likeable and not overly macho or perfect. Here is a perfectly crafted murder mystery with many avenues for the investigation to go down with the backdrop of police politics. Added to that is a throwback to an earlier Bosch story and you have a fantastic book. I flew through this as I tried to piece things together faster than the cops. The ending was tied up a little to "nicely" but overall, a great read.

Trunk Music continues the fantastic story of Detective Harry Bosch. This is a fantastic entry to the series. I personally preferred the storyline in the previous 2 novels. The return of a character from book one was a nice surprise.

I liked the format of this book versus the other ones. Harry was less of an asshole, especially to J. Edgar, which is one of the things that I like in the Amazon series. Having seen the series before reading the book, I remembered a lot of the plot but was happy with the changes that were made. Well, changes to the series as the book was before the series. I hope he continues with the format in future books.

This installment moved slow to me. While there were many twists in this storyline, they came along slowly. They plodded into the story piece by piece and mostly in the background. It was clever but after the fast moving pace of other installments, it just felt slow.

Harry is back after his unforced leave in The Last Coyote. He also is starting to rebuild his demolished home. Things are looking good for Harry, which should make every fan suspicious! He catches a case that looks difficult to solve , then the suspect falls neatly into place with some curves thrown in. But it was very convincing. Harry also reconnects with a former flame with consequences to his mission. When the buttoned up case starts unraveling, Harry is once again faces with disciplinary action and finds himself racing behind the scenes and officially off the case to find the answers.

Another Harry Bosch story with a very surprising end. I look forward to how this plays out in future installments.

Such a well told story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The TV show adaptation of this story (to me) seemed fairly close (not exact). It has been enough time between the viewing of the show and now reading the original story. I can see Welliver playing Bosch in my mind...and could see the book in my head (which is rare).

It also seems like the show did a really good job in casting, for all the major players seemed the same/similar in both stories. Obviously, the book has more details, but the idea of how well they transferred in the adaptation is impressive.

Love the pivot in the middle of the book. It is overdone, when you start an investigation to pick up ALL the clues from start to finish and get the desired result. This story wasn't that, and I appreciated that immensely.

I'm not Hercule Poirot, so I wouldn't have been able to solve this case, or any of them, but the experience of reading it...was a great time.

I look forward to picking up Angels Flight as soon as I can. Loving the author's writing style, and enjoy the characters in this story.

Trunk Music had the difficult job of following up The Last Coyote and it did a good job. Trunk Music is not nearly as intense as the previous book but it is still a great ride.

I really enjoyed TRUNK MUSIC. I've been reading the Harry Bosch series for decades now and this one as usual did not disappoint. I just like the rhythm of the narrative as well as the number of twists and turns the story takes. Highly recommended.
