I do like these books, the Internal Affairs bit is getting a little old at this point, but I enjoy the construction of the story and the way he builds suspense, so I'm not giving up on Harry Bosch yet.

Listened to as a a severely abridged 3 CD audio book. Which might be the best way to do Connelly, who has gotten wordier and wordier as he has become more popular. Gotta churn out the 400-500 pp NYT's Best Sellers!
But I enjoyed the quick plot and fast pace in the audio version. LA and LV setting.

Quality Bosch. Weird to read while watching he second season of Bosch on Amazon as it makes some wild plot variations.

I am reading all the Harry Bosch novels in order and I think I like this one best. "The Last Coyote" gives the reader a long look at LAPD Detective Harry Bosch's past as he solves the decades-old murder of his mother. This book dips into his personal history again as an apparent mob hit leads Bosch to an old girlfriend. Connelly adds a few laughs to this book, so if you like dark humor and well-plotted mysteries, either pick up this one or start the series with "The Black Echo." Connelly is one of the best crime writers and he mixes police procedural with Bosch's private-eye tendencies and top-notch characterizations.

A nicely-done police procedural in the Harry Bosch series. Although this is the fifth book in the series, it's the first one I've read. The plot is interesting, as are the characters, if they do fall a little flat from time to time. My editor brain cringed a few times at some things I thought the book's editor should have caught and fixed--especially since this is not a first-time author. However, it's not something likely to bother the average reader. Definitely recommended if you like mysteries/procedurals; I'll likely look for more books in this series.
