This installment moved slow to me. While there were many twists in this storyline, they came along slowly. They plodded into the story piece by piece and mostly in the background. It was clever but after the fast moving pace of other installments, it just felt slow.

Harry is back after his unforced leave in The Last Coyote. He also is starting to rebuild his demolished home. Things are looking good for Harry, which should make every fan suspicious! He catches a case that looks difficult to solve , then the suspect falls neatly into place with some curves thrown in. But it was very convincing. Harry also reconnects with a former flame with consequences to his mission. When the buttoned up case starts unraveling, Harry is once again faces with disciplinary action and finds himself racing behind the scenes and officially off the case to find the answers.

Another Harry Bosch story with a very surprising end. I look forward to how this plays out in future installments.
