Trunk Music by Michael Connelly
4.0
Michael Connelly's crime books are what the "police procedurals" genre on TV should aspire to be. He crafts realistic situations with realistic dialogue. His protagonist, Harry Bosch, is easily likeable and not overly macho or perfect. Here is a perfectly crafted murder mystery with many avenues for the investigation to go down with the backdrop of police politics. Added to that is a throwback to an earlier Bosch story and you have a fantastic book. I flew through this as I tried to piece things together faster than the cops. The ending was tied up a little to "nicely" but overall, a great read.
