I low-key forgot what happened at the beginning of the volume as I've been binge reading these books, but I LOVED THE ENDING SO MUCH. Maomao is so smart and brave and I'm so proud of her aaaa!!

The first two hundred pages we're quite nice, but the ending felt so forced + as if you had to create drama in order to motivate the reader to continue the series. And for some reason, the sex scenes made me rather uncomfortable. ESPECIALLY IN THE GALLERY BECAUSE WHAT THE FUCK, WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY MAKE OUT WITH A FUCKING STATUE??
But otherwise I did like the male love interest, especially due to the bond to his little sister :) he's also very smart shhshs
Her new female friends and her dad are sweet as well, but I do think the way that his job as a soldier was portrayed was a little weird and did not quite resonate with me.
Overall, the book was alright, quite liberal which I didn't expect but appreciated, but the ending annoyed me aloooot

Sehr schön geschrieben & eine wichtige Darstellung von Gewalt gegenüber Frauen & Personen mit Migrationshintergrund. Bewusste Gewalt, Hass und Widerstand, aber auch versteckte und strukturelle Gewalt vermischen sich in einem Bild, welches das menschliche Bedürfnis nach Harmonie und Liebe in den Vordergrund stellt und dessen Scheitern aufgrund der äußeren Umstände porträtiert.

I chose this book because of its beautiful cover & sprayed edges (THEY ARE STUNNING, ONE OF THE PRETTIEST BOOKS IVE EVER SEEN), but stayed for the portrayal of love. So heartwarming :(
The age gap is wild to me, but I love that Rui doesn't seem stronger than the female protagonist (even tho that's the first impression)!
The magical elements were so pretty toooo :) And the plottwists were intriguing and make me curious about what the second book will be like. ANDDDD I loved reading about korean mythology, as I didn't know anything about it going into the book
