I can’t believe I’ve reached the end of the Ryder and Loveday series. If you’re looking for a fun, cosy, bingeable mystery series this is definitely on to check out, and I can really recommend the audiobook. I have truly enjoyed every minute I’ve spent listening to these books. I think this book is a fitting end, but I will admit to being slightly disappointed in how a few things were left.

Story-wise I don’t think this was my favourite, but I really liked the introduction of Clement’s son and seeing the family dynamics there.

I picked this up as a crime/mystery book with a protagonist in the publishing/book world. I enjoyed it but ultimately didn’t love it – maybe a bit too much focus on the romance elements and not enough on the crime/mystery (plus an apparent need to add more than one mystery into it)? Although I had this in print, I actually picked it up in audio format and I’d be inclined to continue but I don’t think I’ll go rushing out to buy other books in the series.

I flew through this. I really do enjoy the combination of fantasy and mystery. The characters are well-rounded and the plot well thought out – I haven’t guessed a single twist in either book. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Another fun few hours spent with Trudy and Clement. What I particularly liked about this one was seeing more of how Trudy is beginning to be viewed from other members of the force.

Another fun and at times ridiculous listen, but this time complete with adventurous toddlers. I’m really enjoying this series and am excited to see what comes next.

The combination of murder mystery and fantasy was a win for me. I had such a fun time reading this and trying to work out ‘whodunnit’ and it was the perfect train journey read. I will definitely be continuing with the series.

I found this a really easy read and flew through it in a day. I think it’s a really good book for the YA audience. It didn’t completely hit the spot for me as I think some things were missing (it felt a bit like we joined halfway through a story given references to past events that weren’t fully explained) but I did enjoy it and I’m intrigued enough to read the sequel.

Something I really liked was the relationship development, particularly between Hannah and her best friend Gemma.

While I would say this is an easy read, there are some darker themes so it might be worth looking into these and I’ve spoiler tagged some trigger warnings below:

Death of a parent
Animal death
Blood
Fire
Violence
Car crash

Thank you to my book club for gifting me this book when I was going through a difficult time, although I am glad I didn’t read it at the time given the trigger warnings and what I was going through back then.

I LOVED this book. So much so I actually forgot I’d finished it and picked it back up after a day out because I was so heavily invested in the story that I couldn’t fathom there not being more to read.

I do agree with some of the reviews that felt it was a slow start and I wasn’t in love from the first page. But the more I read, the more hooked I was. I really liked the characters, although I perhaps felt their back stories were slightly underdeveloped in the sense that past events weren’t described in quite as much detail as I’d have liked but it really didn’t matter. And that ending! I NEED the sequel right now. I’m already so excited for my reread ahead of book two coming out next year.
