I understand 100% I'm not the target audience for this, but when you have the MC complaining all the time, suspicious of literally everyone, lies to everyone, complains about her ex WAY too much, and the only good personality trait she has is being a caring mom (big surprise, most moms care unless they're toxic POS) it doesn't make for a cozy book but a domestic fiction which I didn't care for. I know she's going thru a divorce but she literally is in a new life now. Focus on that, not fucking GA.

The idea was good, but there wasn't a lot of magical shit going on or anything cozy besides describing pastries and coffee 24/7. The literal only cozy part of this book was the last 5 pages when the MC has a cup of tea and reads a book. Like, why was this so hard if you're tagging this as cozy?

Bad characters, the side characters were way better than the MC and we barely went into Portney at all.

Not reading more. Please work on making it "cozy" and not have a toxic MC.

This is a strong 3 stars, don't brush off this book.

Tiktok girlies are scared but it's one of the best and most gruesome romances that rivals itself with "The Devourers".

I deducted 2 stars primarily for 2 reasons

Stakes and a thesaurus.

(Rabbit Notebook, you really can't expect me to do all your writer's notes, bitch)

can't tell if the MC is really naive or dumb.

Probably both.

Prose is fine.

WB is shit

Characters are all very Republican, let's just say, which is not a bad thing in terms of beating the shit out of them afterwards necessarily but it was overbearingly hammering into your brain that we need Feminism (which is obviously a good thing)

Vibe excellent

Pacing is out to lunch.

TW: Rape does happen in first quarter, but it lasts only a page or two. The aftermath is more explicitly detailed, not the deed.

This is proof Goodreads lie. This is not any where close to being 3.

To the reviewer who was upset about the pee thing: Go to other countries and take in sights and smells. Some guys are pricks and will pee on the streets so sometimes you do smell that. As regards for the past, you have to remember that the werewolves are literally not human and are animals so what is gross to us, is not gross to them.

I will do a full review at a later date, but just know, the world missed out by not reading this book. It was beautifully done and not enough words can describe why this book might snipe book of the year for me.

5/5, go read this book already

12/28: This book has won the Golden Stick Award for Best Book of 2023 on Reddit. Just a heads up

Bro, read this book to understand how to NOT write a book.
To the guy who said this book was Soulsbourne-like, flat out lied. There is some elements but it's a whisper of a fart.
Even if I wasn't reading it for that genre, it's a stereotypical fantasy book with little deviance from the norm of that time or today's media.

Notes in rabbit notebook.
