Maid of Secrets by Jennifer McGowan
4.0
3.5/5 stars.
This is a good foundation for the rest of the series.
I love the combination of young adult/historical fiction/mystery that is interwoven in this book. It's a step apart from young adult novels that I've read recently. It keeps you on your toes, second guessing yourself and completely on edge.
I love the characters of the Maids Honor. I liked the dynamics between them. I enjoyed the chemistry between Meg and Rafe. In fact, I love both Meg and Rafe a lot.
I didn't pick that the villain in the end was who it was. In all honestly, I actually thought it was one of the Maids of Honor with the help of one of the Spanish men. How wrong I was.
In the end, this book holds so much promise and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. Especially since it is set during one of my favourite periods in history.

Succubus Heat by Richelle Mead
5.0
Again, I'm amazed by how much I love this series.
The Gameboard, Kincaid and Markham books are what I love about Mead.
She's at her best when she's writing for adults.

Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead
5.0
I still maintain that Mead's earliest works are her best, with the exception of the "Gameboard of the Gods" books.
Vampire Academy as well, given that it's a different spectrum (but still no where near as good as the Kincaid or the Eugenie books).
I love it when Mead is sexy, adventurous, and all the rest.
I think Georgina would have to be my favourite of her characters she's written, after Mae and Eugenie of course.

Succubus Nights by Richelle Mead

A worthy sequel, but no where near as entertaining as Succubus Blues.
Still can't believe I finished this in a day

Soundless by Richelle Mead
4.0
"Soundless" contains all that I have come to love about Richelle Mead, her writing, her worlds and her stories. This is an original concept that I couldn't help but admire, as it was a pretty gutsy move to make. I loved the story. My only disappointment is that this is a stand alone novel. I would have loved to read about Fei versus the King in a sequel novel, would have loved to read about Fei and Li Wei's wedding, whether or not Zhang Jing got her sight and hearing back. So many things I wish that I could read more on. But alas, this is a remarkable stand alone. One star lost for the slow beginning.
The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead
3.0
All that is glittering is not gold. .
This book may thus far be my least favourite written by Mead. It's a close call between this and "Soundless" (although "Soundless" had a lot more substance and more gripping story telling).
After about page 300, "The Glittering Court" just falls flat. I loved the story line up until the point when Adelaide and Cedric became a public thing.
It felt forced.
Over all, I'm a little disappointed.

Succubus Revealed by Richelle Mead

. . . I headed off toward my husband and the rest of my life, off to be worthy of my soul.
Georgina's story is one of my favourites. I could read this time and time again if I didn't have so many other books in my TBR shelf.
