The Nyx plot (from memory) was my second favourite after Roman in "Succubus Blues".

Another Mead book finished in a day.

Not the best in the series but still one of the best for Mead.

The ending shocked me just as much as the first time I read it.

The elements and plot seemed a bit recycled from other YA books that I've read, but I don't mind that at all. It's always interesting to read slightly different variations.

A solid debut. That cliffhanger will definitely be getting me to read the series further.

As soon as I picked up this book, I found it VERY difficult to put down, only doing so because a body needs food and sleep to survive. In "Cress", I enjoyed reading about the other protagonists of the series more so than the titled protagonist, but she still made for a beautiful character. I ESPECIALLY enjoyed the way Meyer integrated Thorne into this story overall. I mean, I didn't realise it until he went blind, but Captain Carswell Thorne was always designed to be Cress' prince - Rapunzel's prince was blinded by a thorn bush after the witch who was holding her found out about them, and of course, after Sybil (the witch, as Thorne calls her), discovered Cress' betrayal and Thorne comes to the rescue, he gets hurt and blinded because of Sybil's actions.

Not to mention, it wasn't until I realised until after Erland figured it out for himself that Crescent was actually his daughter. I mean, I remember him mentioning he had a daughter in Cinder, but I never imagined to connect the dots like so. Again, all due to the masterful interwoven story telling that Meyer is gifted with.

So far, "Cress" is my favourite in the series.

A re-telling worth reading.

Cinder is most definitely a breath of fresh air take on the classic tale of Cinderella.

The writing. The plot. The world. The development. . . I loved it all!
