7/1/18 - I think my feelings for this book has changed and will be unhauling it which is the reason I cleared my rating. Though I'm leaving my original review and thoughts up.

Okay I originally heard of this series when my friend recommended it to me when we were at Barns & Noble a couple years ago and when I read the synopsis I knew it was something I felt I would love! I finally got around to buying it a few months ago and after reading a few books I wanted to get out of the way, I finally started this. In that time I had heard a lot of good reviews but lately just people who didn't like it, because of a lot of negative reviews I was just nervous to dive into the story. Well to say the least I REALLY enjoyed this book! Any book that gives me any intense emotion whether that be sadness, happiness, etc. for the story is a good book in my opinion and I definitely got that intense emotion with this. This book brought me to tears multiple times and just overall broke my heart in the best possible way. I was really drawn into the story at first and wanted to read more, but at the same time I was still kind of iffy about it. When I read high fantasy it kind of throws me off when I see modern type things like light bulbs, elevators, and things like that. I much prefer fantasy books set in a sort of medieval type world, if that makes any sense? This felt quite a lot like a more dystopian world so I wasn't a huge fan of it at first but as I continued on it all blended together really nicely and it fit the story very well. I also was expecting the sort of love triangle going on to really bother me, but it really didn't at all and it all turned out a lot more different then I was expecting to my surprise. It was very much a case of me starting to ship one pair and then one of them does something and you're just like ABSOLUTELY not. I really started growing attached to these characters as well, even minor ones we didn't see that often. I was surrounded in this world and I really started to feel the pain and sorrow for what they were all going through, or even the little spot of hope they would feel when a certain thing would happen.

I'm not even sure if this review made sense but all you need to know is that I very much enjoyed this book. I'm still a little nervous to start the sequel, just because of more negative reviews I've heard but I'm still really excited to see where this story goes.

Wow, okay I'm kind of pissed off at a certain character right now. πŸ˜‚ Like not in a bad way, just in an "I'm emotionally invested in this story" way. I'm probably not making any sense! Anyway, I really enjoyed this! I definitely agree with others that it wasn't as exciting as the two books before but it was still great. It was a nice break since the first books kind of emotionally drained me. I thought it was really cool to see into a couple different characters heads and I enjoyed getting to know the world a little bit better. I'm really interested to see how this all plays out and how Victoria Aveyard ties this all together and how it ends. I can't wait for the fourth book!

I'm screaming!! This series is making me so emotional. I absolutely loved this, and can't wait to finish the rest of the series. I definitely liked Red Queen a little better, but I still loved this one.

I absolutely adored this book! Rick Riordan continues to blow my mind with every story that he writes, this one being no different. I haven't read or heard of many books at all involving Norse mythology so this was a very interesting book to read and really enjoyed that take on it.
Rick never fails to make me laugh in every single one of his books as well. I was absolutely living for Magnus' sarcasm and considering I use sarcasm like a second language I related to him a lot with that.

A great story line, great humor, and a lot of good action mixed in makes this an amazing book. I would 100% recommend this to anyone who loved Percy Jackson or loves any sort of action and mythology.

This was a very well written and beautiful collection of poetry by Portia Mabaso! If you love Rupi Kaur and Amanda Lovelace this is definitely the poetry collection for you!

I have a lot of tabs and highlights from all of the poems that I especially loved in this collection! I absolutely loved how this book was split into four different parts, all based on the seasons. I loved seeing the progression in each section from love, to heartbreak, to depression, to empowerment. If I had to pick a favorite section it would definitely be the first one, summer. I absolutely love romantic poetry and this little section was definitely filled with it. Spring was a very close second. So many powerful poems written there that hit you hard.

The only reason I'm taking off a star is because I personally didn't emotionally connect with many of the poems, especially in the middle two sections. I like to rate on enjoyment and emotion and that lacked a little there for me. Of course this is in no way saying that they were bad poems or that no one will connect with them. Quite the opposite actually, I know many people who would be impacted by them and love them and I myself thought they were beautiful. Despite that I still had so many poems and words that I absolutely loved, as you can guess from all the tabbing and highlighting. πŸ˜‚

Overall a fantastic collection of poetry! I would 100% recommend to anyone who loves modern poetry that is powerful, impactful and beautiful.

7/8/18 - I just finished ny reread of this! I mainly listened to the audibook for the entirety of the book. She isn't my favorite narrator and I didn't like her at first but I got used to it. Rating and thoughts are more or less staying the same.

After reading the A Court of Thorns and Roses series and falling in love with it I knew for sure that I had to pick up the Throne of Glass series. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I'm super excited to read the rest of this series. I will say this wasn't as exciting as I was hoping, but obviously it still kept my attention. I will say that I teared up a little at the end, and kind of low-key felt like screaming at this book (the good kind of screaming though. πŸ˜‚) I can't wait to see what happens in the next books. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Though this started out slow and I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it, I ended up absolutely loving it! This is definitely going on the list of my favorite classics. 😍

Shadow and Bone was great but I loved this SO much more then book one. 😍 I loved the new characters we get to meet, I loved getting to know the ones we already knew and I still adored the world of Ravka! I was originally going to give this a 4.5 but that ending made me raise it for sure. I felt this had everything that Shadow and Bone lacked for me, the action, the emotion, and intensity I love reading in books. I'm also basic and love Nikolai like everyone else. πŸ˜‚
