Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
I have no words for how absloutly amazing and beautiful this story was! I'm just in shock. That ending had me all sorts of emotional and I just can't. One moment my heart was broken, the next I was absolutely terrified, and then the next I was crying tears of joy. This is such a beautiful story of healing and hope and I was in awe.
I was kind of in the middle on Chaol before reading this book. I didn't hate him by any means and I actually quite liked him in earlier books but during QOS I just was annoyed by him. Of course his actions were completely understandable but still made me like him a little less. After reading this book I've absloutly fallen in love with him again and enjoyed so much reading his journey. I'm also in love with Yrene Towers and have been from the first page she was on. It was so incredible to read and explore this practically new world Sarah J Maas has created with The Southern Continent and its people and its culture.
I'm probably a broken record at this point, but I think you get the idea of how I felt about this book.
My only problem with the book was that I felt like Nesyrn's chapters didn't snag me as much and felt a little boring at times. I don't hate her by any means but she's just not one of my favorite characters. Towards the end of the book I was a lot more invested in her story though.
Overall, I absolutely adored this book and am even more excited for TOG7. ๐๐

Ahh, this book just broke my heart! Seeing Caelana just hit rock bottom and realizing the hell she went through most of her life. I just wanted to cry for her. ๐ญ I really enjoyed this book though! We get introduced to a lot of new characters and I enjoyed getting to know them more. Like always I can't wait to read more. ๐

*My DNF review*
I was so looking forward to reading this book and enjoying it, but sadly it just wasn't doing it for me. I couldn't even finish it and had to stop about 160 pages in. Which says a lot because I rarely DNF books, and it takes a lot for me to do it. I was just getting bored and annoyed with this book.
The one thing I will say that this books as going for it is the world. Sara B. Larson has done a great job creating a fascinating world and putting that forth. It just felt like a lot of telling instead of showing and the writing just felt very awkward in general to me. i'm not even sure how to explain it, but it just felt off and didn't flow as well as I would have liked which really kind of put me off.
I can't really say if this is true or not because I didn't fully read it, but our main character Evelayn felt like a very Mary-sue character and just wasn't very interesting to me. We also have an insta love between Evelayn and Tanvir which kind of just had me rolling my eyes a little bit.
I was still a little interested to see what happened so I ended up reading and scanning through the ending of the book. I feel like that would be an interesting and exciting ending, if I cared about the rest of the book which I didn't, so you know. I don't know, I'm just said because I was really excited to read this book and I was sure I was going to enjoy it but it just didn't grab me in the first half and since school is starting and my reading time won't be as much I just have so many other books I want to read.

Let me just start out by saying that it takes A LOT for me to DNF a book or hate it. I'm usually a pretty content reader and as long as the story is generally interesting and the writing is pretty good I enjoy a book for the most part and I'm never super critical or pocky. I not only disliked this book, I just couldn't finish it. It's such a cool and interesting concept and started out pretty good but a little more then half way through I just had to put it down. It was extremely boring and I was DYING for some action to occur, some drama just ANYTHING to happen. The writing style wasn't terrible but again it wasn't that great anyway. I don't even know, I just didn't like this book and glad I only payed 50ยข for it at my library's used bookstore.

This was actually pretty underwhelming in my opinion. I hate to say that since I've been looking forward to this book and the idea is extremely interesting. I just was expecting a lot more to happen. ๐ I also noticed a ton of grammatical errors and missing words which just kind of annoyed me.

Ahh, loved this! It was so awesome to be back in the world of The Selection and see so many favorite characters again. I loved seeing the story from so many different perspectives and definitely got a bit emotional. I just really enjoy the extra content and the illustrations were stunning as well. I do kind of wish I read this closer to finishing the series because I forgot so many things. ๐
The Crown by Kiera Cass
4.0
The Crown is the last novel in The Selection series by the lovely Kiera Cass. This final book completes the story of America Singer's daughter Eadlyn and the first female-led Selection she takes part in.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and series as a whole. Like most everyone I did much prefer the original three but it was still a good and interesting story. I definitely appreciated this book much more then The Heir which is the first book Eadlyn appears in. Many reviews were pointing out how bratty and rude she was in The Heir and I completely agree. I think she does take a complete turn around in this last book. She learns to love and appreciate the people around her more and shows many signs of being a selfless and strong ruler.
It's a pretty rare occurrence for me to visibly cry while reading a book but the last quarter of this story really got to me. This could very well be a mixture of my tiredness and the fact it was nearly 1:30 am when i finished this book, but we'll go with it was entirely the books fault. I was very interested in seeing who she would pick. At the beginning, though she was beginning to appreciate and enjoy the boys company, especially as she cut them down to the Elite, it didn't seem she was falling completely head over heels for anyone or even had a strong connection to any particular boy. As I kept reading I had one boy in mind that I loved but felt like they wouldn't have a chance together. I was completely enthralled into the story every boy that Eadlyn sent home. I was pleasantly surprised in the last few chapters when she finally made her choice. I really loved how this book kept me guessing, and how we don't really ever know who she'll pick in the end. With the original Selection it is pretty obvious who Maxon is going to choose by book three.
The one thing I really wish we got to see more of was romance. Through most of the book we got much more a feeling of friendship between Eadlyn and the boys instead of romance between anyone. By the end I was aching for more cute moments. Especially when it was official who she would marry, I really wanted to see more of them together. I can understand why there was significantly less romance; Eadlyn was never suppose to fall in love, but still.
