Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon

About 2/3 of the book was developing Acheron's human past... I'm SO grateful Kenyon did that. In contrast to how Acheron appears in other books, I wish his relationship with his woman would have been developed more, but that might have taken the book into the 1,000+-page category. I'm looking forward to the new characters and stories now that we've settled this one (and very satisfyingly at that).

I need to read this book again but take it slower... I was so driven to finish because the suspense was killing me.

A very humorous take on religion and the religious impulse, though not the most original take on it in this day and age. Still very entertaining.

A kick for anyone who was into the series, but it still sort of misses something from the previous stories.

Not Kenyon's best work in the Dark-Hunter or Dream-Hunter world, but still a good read.

This book combined with "The Second Shift" changed my views on feminism forever. Why do some "feminists" hate femininity so much? Aren't they just playing the man in a patriarchal society?

I do agree with other reviews, though: the author does attack people instead of structures a lot of the time. I think for people who have been feminists for a while this book might have some interesting points to consider, but it probably holds more value to people who aren't really familiar with the culture or movement.

For what this book is, I really liked it. Meyer really wrote for an intended audience (young adults), so I wasn't expecting anything with literary merit. My only complaint is how weak and whiny Meyer made the main character, never really emphasizing any good or strong traits. The whole damsel-in-distress theme gets really tiring and doesn't send a good message to young women.

I don't really like the main female role, but for what it's worth she did deserve some credit for the whole middle section of the book. Unfortunately treading through most of that middle section wasn't worth what little credit she gained. Ah well. By the time I got to the end the middle didn't matter so much.

Why don't vampire books ever address menstruation issues?! I cannot willingly suspend my disbelief, especially when such a topic is briefly mentioned in the 4th book!

This was the first book in the saga that I could actually put down...but I couldn't stay away for long. I really wanted a section on Jacob and I got exactly what I wanted, so yeah.

Climax was kinda disappointing...nothing like HP. Heheheheh.
