I really could not get into this book. First off, nothing on the book suggests that this book is second in a series. I found it at Costco and it wasn’t sold along side the first book, so I had no idea. I’m not sure this is super important, though, considering this book is about a different character than in the first (apparently).
I think I really just couldn’t stand her style if writing. It wasn’t descriptive enough, there was no character development, and everything just happened so fast and out of nowhere. I need to be drawn into a scene and fall in love with characters to care about a story, and this just didn’t do it for me. It was almost like watching a cheesy and far-fetched romance movie but you don’t even get a visual of the hot guy.

Traditional chick lit cheesy romance, but set in post WWII Europe. Predictable love story with fun spy action.

I loved this story…it took a minute to catch up that it was part of a trilogy. I’m looking forward to the others.
I “figured it out” but it was still fun! I can not even imagine the courage needed to survive the craziness that was in that part of the world!

Again, I wish I could give 1/2 stars. 3.5 stars. Book was good, not great. Could have been more character development, but I did like the twists.

I appreciated the time period of this book - we don’t often read about what happens AFTER the war. Good character development and the twist caught me! Recommend.

I didn't like Marta much in the previous book but over the course of her story in this one, she really grew on me. There were certainly some plot twists in this one that I didn't see coming.

I liked that this book picked up with one of the characters from her earlier book (Kommandant's girl). And I enjoyed it more than that book. Couldn't put this down.

This book is like one of those activities in class where someone starts a story and then passes it onto other classmates who each add their own elements. By the end, the story is unrecognizable. Wtf did I read? I thought the first part was boring and rather pointless, but it really started to get good midway through. That’s where two stars come in; however, it’s like the editor was feeling the same as me about the beginning so the author was like, “oh, yeah, we should bring back some of those characters from the beginning and make this a totally implausible cliché suspense-romance.”

eh, this was an okay read. Not as fascinating as the Kommandant's girl. It's the continuation of a peripheral character from Kommandant's girl and her experiences post-WW2.

I really loved this book. The plot moved so fast and the characters were great. It was like a light Nelson DeMille book wrapped into a love story. Bonus for me, it was set during immediate post-WWII Europe. Highly recommended to those who like books similar to what I like. My only complaint is that it is a little cheesy at times.
