Here’s the thing: the story itself was great. Would’ve made for a captivating movie. For a book, it was SO much. It felt like 5 different stories stuffed into one, none of them quite getting the attention they deserve.

Didn't realize this was more or less a sequel to the Kommandant's wife. More suspenseful than the Kommandant's wife, surprising twist at the end.

The premise had promise. There was a section, maybe around 20% or so, that was exciting enough as the action ramped up. I just had such a hard time with suspending my disbelief for so much of the book, and the whole thing was so predictable that I ended up wanting to just get it over with already.

Really enjoyed this story. Was sucked into the story and was very surprised by the ending. Was not expecting it at all

The greatest genre: fictional women in WW2 europe. This one is as close as possible with the setting being immediately post war. It’s got inconsistent time jumps, short span love stories, and oops babies. So it has it all! It’s not the absolute best in the genre but it’s pretty good.
