Meh... Yay for happy endings but not nearly as awesome as the first.

Just as go as Knight and Play, if not better.
This book continues on from Knight and Play. Lucien and Sophie's relationship is still going on. Not a relationship in the normal terms but what is normal anymore.
This book had me in tears and I loved it. I would recommend this book.

Beautifully wrote. Heart wrenching in places, hot as f*ck in others. All in all a fabulous story that I enjoyed thoroughly. Now I just wish part three was available lol

Prior to starting this book, I was in a horrible book funk...I had the worst book hangover. I must have started (or attempted to start) at least 12 different books. None of them caught my interest and I ended up dropping them within a few pages. But finally, I thought of this book and decided to give it a try. And low and behold, this caught my attention and before I knew it, I was 15% into the book.
As much as I was looking forward to this, I was also disappointed in it. I still loved Lucien. He’s a hot Viking (which Sophie informs us of at least a dozen times). But I felt like all the progress in their relationship was lost and it was them doing the same things over again to get the relationship back. There were similar events in this that were in the first, the difference being they took place in France as opposed to Norway or London. Toward the end of the first book, we saw Lucian starting to realize that he might have feelings for Sophie. He was in deep denial but with the book resetting itself, I felt like I was seeing him go through the battle again.

I was also disappointed in Sophie’s husband. After the way the previous book ended, I really expected a huge showdown between Sophie, Dan and Lucien. But we really didn’t get that. A few words were had, one punch was thrown and that was it. Dan does come back a couple more times but they didn’t have any more drama (less actually) so they were almost a waste of time. They didn’t provide Sophie with any conflict of emotions or confusion as to what she wanted. They were more of an annoyance.
Toward the end, after the arguments and breakup (because you knew there was going to be a breakup), Sophie ended up going after Lucien. I was actually disappointed in this. I wanted him to go crawling back to her, realizing that he did love her and wanted to be with her. However, there was a really nice scene where they connected and it wasn't in bed.

Even with my disappointments, I enjoyed this book. The end was great, providing great closure for the characters.

DNF at 37%. I didn't think I'd like to continue because I only got super interested at the very end of book one, but I've been wanting badly to read more erotica that has toys and such other than the BDSM books and whips and chains etc. I don't think sex toys are in enough books lately, it's either super vanilla or only BDSM and no in between unless it's a vibrator for SELF pleasure. But I stopped this here, because I CANNOT read about a champaign bottle used as a sex toy. I might sound prudey for stopping because of that, but it's just a toe over the line I don't wish to cross.

Great continuation to Knight and Play! My only complaint is the character of Dan. It felt as if he was little more than a plot device to bring Sophie and Lucien together and he was consistently a convenient villain the background. Considering how long he and Sophie were together, it's a little disappointing that we didn't get to see more of the fallout/confrontation that they eventually had. That's really the main reason why I can't give the book 5 stars.
That said, I liked the conclusion of the story and I enjoyed seeing the evolution of Lucien Knight as a person and his journey with Sophie. Sophie really grows up and learns to assert herself and be her own person and I'm glad Lucien encourages that (as opposed to other similar alpha males in other books I've read).

Oh man, I wanted to like this more than I did.
I was hoping to find more of a showdown/fight for what you want from either Dan or Lucien. I didn't get that. I did get Sophie Black turn into this confident little firecracker though and I LOVED it.
