(I got this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.)
This is the 2nd book in the Java Jive mystery series....I purchased the 1st book and read that prior to this one so I would know about the characters, setting, main plot, etc. I gave the 1st book 4-4.5 stars. This book, however, just gets 3 stars from me. Even though the story was different and it focused on different characters, I felt it was very much like the 1st book (a murder, Juliet getting involved even though she shouldn't, Ryder giving her a hard time about it, etc). I didn't guess the "bad guy" so that was a good aspect. It was an easy read so if you're headed to the beach this summer, it's a good book to take along.

Another winner IMHO!

Juliet is back with her best friend Pete and hunky Detective Ryder. This time it is Pete's girlfriend that ends of up dead and Pete is accused of the murder. Of course Juliet can't have that because he is her best friend and knows he would never have done such a thing.

Just like the first book, this one is peppered with funny scenes due to Julie's fervor in searching out who really killed Cecilia. I will say that you will not see this one coming! There are several good suspects and the only reason why I did suspect the killer at the end is that is seemed like there was anyone else to suspect!

This is a good series and I highly suggest reading but make sure to start with the first book, Death before Decaf.

I received this book for free as part of a Chat Pack from Chatterbox™ in exchange for my honest review and I really liked this book. The Java Jive series is fun and refreshing and a quick read. I read her first book in the series, Death by Decaf, and I can't wait to read the next book later this year.

So I received an ARC of this book, by Caroline Fardig, it's a Java jive mystery (think Starbucks) and is the second of the series. I have not read the first book in the series and I don't feel that you need to as most of it was referenced back and summed up, but I am definitely going to pick it up.

This book had me hooked from the beginning, I was interested in the characters, Jules, Ryder, and Pete along with their friends, family and co-workers. When someone ends up murdered and Juliette's friend is accused of doing the deed, Juliet frustrated with the investigation, starts investigating on her own. She keeps sticking her nose in the investigation in a humorous, sometimes frustrating, and a few unexpected ways keeps that this story interesting.

I highly recommend this book and will be purchasing the next book in the series.

I have really enjoyed both books in this series so far. The lead character, Jules, is smart, sassy, fun, impetuous and a loyal friend. The author has crafted a well plotted story that keeps the reader engaged until the end. This is in part due to the wonderful cast of characters but also the solid mystery. The author leads us on a merry adventure as Jules tries to uncover the identity of the killer. As she undertakes her own investigation, the author does a wonderful job of creating viable suspects with believable motives and sprinkles clues throughout the book. I, for one, was taken by surprise by the killer's identity. I will be looking for more installments in this series.

I received an ARC from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my opinions and the thoughts expressed are my own.

I enjoyed this book overall. It is what you would expect in a cozy mystery. I had an issue with the main character doing seemingly idiotic things that would get herself and her friends into trouble repeatedly. It didn't make sense that she would keep doing these actions, especially with her reaction to how the first few attempts turned out. I also found the am I in love with my best friend plot to be a bit boring, and I would hope it gets resolved quickly in the next book. Overall, it was an enjoyable mystery with interesting characters. I received this book for free as part of the House Party Chatterbox Monthly Mystery for my honest review.

Mug Shot by Caroline Fardig is the second book in the Java Jive mystery series. I did not read the first book Death Before Decaf, but I had no problems following along and getting to know the characters. I enjoyed this book so much thought that I will be going back to read the first. It is a great, fast past mystery. It takes no time at all for things to get started in this book. I was hooked from the start. There are lots of plot twists to keep you on your toes. The characters are quirky and funny. I was shocked at the ending. I did not see that coming! I would recommend this book as an entertaining, funny mystery.

This was a definite "it's me, not you" read. For one, I should have started with the first book in the series as I felt I missed out on some of the character dynamics. (Like the whole love triangle, of which I am not a fan.) I've also read very few cozy mysteries as they are very hit or miss for me. Unfortunately, this one was a miss. I was not a fan of the humor as I found it a bit juvenile. And while I enjoy mysteries where laymen investigate a crime, I many times wanted to smack Juliet for not thinking through some scenarios (or just letting the police take care of it).

This is the first book that I've devoured in along time. I miss reading. Murder mystery with heart and comedy. I was so sure I knew who did it too!! I was wrong. Many thanks to house party, Random House, Alibi and Net Galley for allowing me to preview this book for free. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read other books by Caroline Fardig.
