An Irish Rockstar for Christmas by J. Saman

An Irish Rockstar For Christmas would have been a five-star read for me, but the way the family handled Hunter was too awful for me. He was an aggressive, infantilizing, misogynistic, disrespectful, handsy bully, and no one did anything about it. In fact, Vivian’s brother, Peter, seemed to encourage it. Cian and Vivian handled the situation perfectly, but I couldn’t digest the apathy everyone else showed toward it all. It didn’t vibe with the picture the author was trying to paint of how close, quirky, and Griswold-y the family was. Very weird. I get that Hunter was there for conflict and forced the fake relationship trope, but ick. No means no dude.

I love the Motham City series! The Wolf Professor was one of the tamer books of the series, I think. It heats up at the very end, and I did miss the heat throughout the book. I really loved the journey that Max had to take on this book, to come to terms with his wolf and history. I didn’t feel like Charlie was given much depth, though. I still enjoyed it, though it wasn’t my favorite of the series.

Mondays, Mochas, & Make-Believe was a cute little short story. I read it in about 20 minutes. It was almost like an appetizer for me! Short, sweet, and a little spicy!

Oh goodness, I loved From Air. Jamie and Fitz were everything. The side characters are amazing. The twists of fate were a bit unbelievable, but I didn’t mind. I laughed with this book as much as I cried. The story flowed easily and the plot moved organically. It was simply so good.

Sighs By The Sea by Andrea Goeppert

Sighs By The Sea didn’t really do it for me. I didn’t connect with Maggie or Grayson, and I thought Maggie was very immature. She had a borderline “no means no” moment where she really pushed too much; if the man had pushed the same way, I don’t think people would’ve been ok with it. I didn’t like the side characters, other than Harry. The family just seems like jerks. I couldn’t find anything redeeming about them. Also, at no point in this book did I think there was anything remotely funny. I’m not sure how this book is billed as a romantic comedy. Literally, nothing funny. Maybe Tommy, a side character, with his somewhat irreverent behavior, but that would be pushing it for me.

I liked the chemistry between Maggie and Grayson, and I thought Georgie was a cutie, but that’s about the extent of my enjoyment, unfortunately.

I really loved Tis The Season For Secrets! I enjoyed the first book in the series, but I really liked how the author brought the spice with this one. I was missing that in the first one. I love Yule and I can’t wait to see where this series goes. I hope we get Harvey and Margot next. My only complaint would be that the author used British words when they were supposed to be in New York. I didn’t mind the British spellings, but the words (lift, queue, mince pies, etc.) didn’t fit the location. I think that the vernacular should fit the location, no matter the nationality of the author.

I loved Why Not Now? I took a gamble with a second-chance romance because I love the Blue Vista crew, and it totally paid off. Derek and Ava were so cute and so hot together. I love that Derek just knew Ava was it. Ava was a little annoying with her independence, but I’m glad she sorted herself out. I absolutely can’t wait for Adalie’s book!

Santa’s Pretty Helper was so spicy! I loved it! I know it was a novella, but the insta-love was a bit unrealistic to me. The webcam thing was super hot; the bonus epilogue for subscribing was even hotter! Overall I enjoyed this book!.

Hunted in Holly was a quick, fun read. I would’ve loved to have this as a full-length book, but I still enjoyed it.

While I really liked Astraea and Nyte in The Star are Dying, I felt like this book was confused about what it was supposed to be. There were so many plot points, it was hard to grasp any underlying theme. Astraea has no recollection of her life beyond 5 years prior, yet she doesn’t seem overly concerned figuring out who she is. She enters a competition, but that seems to be a side plot. The only somewhat constant is her relationship with Nyte, but she’s very fickle about that as well. Even though Nyte repeatedly asks her to trust his actions, she’s constantly doubting him and second-guessing. It got a little frustrating. Additionally, there were quite a few things where I was thinking, hmm, I’ve read this before. It seemed like a lot was borrowed from other popular romantasy series. I don’t think the book necessarily ended on a cliffhanger, it was almost as though the book just stopped. Usually there is an organic stopping point in a series, not just a full-stop. It was like the author just arbitrarily decided on a stopping point and the next book will just lock back up. Finally, the writing was very confusing and difficult. For example, “The sun was setting, spilling serene warm hues like glitter on the top level of the city, and this time nothing in me surged with the urgency to be somewhere I’d never wanted to be anyway.” There has to be a more direct way to say whatever this is. I honestly couldn’t even tell you what the author was trying to say here. Overall, while I like the idea of this book, I think it just needs more work.
