After not liking the first book I was very worried to pick this up.
I think I am in the minority, but I found this so much more enjoyable than The Serpant and the Wings of Night.

Oraya felt less like a copy of any other MC for a fantasy book. I finally felt I got to know her. We also see some realistic character development.
Her relationship with Raihn is well paced and stopped feeling like insta love as it was in the beginning.

I'm glad we got both points of view.

If we could do without the consent "there she is" I would have even given it a 3.75.

I'm so glad I waited to write a review.
After finishing reading I would have given this book at the most a 4 star rating. But I find  myself returning to this world in my thought  frequently. Obviously it made a bigger impact on me than I thought.

At the start I found both main characters incredibly frustrating. Each of them for different reasons. It's only once we start to unravel them and the world/s they live in everything starts to make sense.

This is such a beautiful story, that can be equally enjoyable for fans of the cosmer and those who have not yet read any other books in this universe.

This might not be my least favourite of the secret projects.
Don't get me wrong, I still liked it, and would recommend to any Cosmer fan. But the constant action just did not do it for me.

The main "Bad guy" was evil, just because.  Normally with Sanderson, we can relate even in some way to the antagonist. This time it felt like just a quick plot convenient character with no depth.
I wish we could spend a little more time understanding the people and what motivates them. Instead we are literally and figuratively always on the run.

Such an unexpected read!
For some reason, this book felt very relaxing, even though the subject matter may not have sugested it.
I think the repetitive structure of chapters and slow but constant character development made this into a cosy scify book for me.

I was looking forward to this book. Although I found the first book somewhat week in world building and logic :), it was still a very enjoyable read.
This unfortunately was a disappointment.

I wish Rebecca Yarros went with her original plan and split this book into two books.

The first part felt repetitive. After such dramatic revelations in the end of Fourth Wing, we go back to the school, trainings and secrets. It ends with a dramatic scene followed by.... more of the same only in a different location.

I was hoping to learn more on the world and people. Instead I have more questions.

I am not sure if I will continue with the series.
