Started this book shortly after Trump's order to revoke birthright citizenship. This story sets the scene for the many immigrant parents who sacrifice everything for that. The issue is very important and thought provoking. However I found the novel to be a bore. There were so many tangential anecdotes about the characters that I didn't find interesting nor care about. A lot of it was spent bouncing around without very little progression. It felt like reading into the mind of someone with ADHD.

Cresta was a huge highlight of this book. Still annoyed over how immature Tipp is throughout the entire trilogy even though he's the same age Kiva was when she became the prison's healer after her father died.

There should be a trigger warning for suicide but I didn't see any. I wasn't looking out for it either so maybe that was my bad. Despite the suicide attempt at the beginning of the book, I found the story to be funny and inspiring. Each character has a spunky personality that had me cackling at times.

This is my third reading of Fourth Wing and I noticed even more details than last time. Still a page turner that keeps me up late even though I already know what happens. The world building is easy to follow and Yarros truly did a magnificent job with it. Violet is very mature in some ways, while also the complete opposite in other ways. The way she jumped from physical attraction to head first deep love is a bit farfetched considering the object of attraction is an enemy. But at the same time she held Xaden to a pretty mature level of standards in terms of what she expects/deserves from a relationship with him. This I find quite admirable, especially thinking of my own maturity level with relationships at her age. There is so much more for me to say but I've already pushed my bedtime just to finish this book.

Such an interesting life. This was cool to hear how she rose to acclaimed fame in a white man's world. I was too young to actually know Dan Rather's deal but somehow I've always known he had bad vibes and this memoir justified those feelings. Representation matters.

Intriguing enough that I wanted to keep reading on to the next chapter. But not quite a page turner that I'd be willing to stay up late for it. It was easy enough to walk away for a break. But wow, this was a great novel.

Adorable story!! It was entertaining, funny, and worldly lessons for everyone. Love all the characters. My fave characters are a toss up between Chauncey and Luci. Narrator once again did a phenomenal job giving each character a distinctive voice that had me cackling at times. I devoured this story!

I usually enjoy contemporary lit but this was too boring. Too similar to real life where there is struggle, strife, and failure. Too mundane with unlikeable characters who I didn't care about. Thr ughout the whole book as I read all these anecdotes on the character that weren't related to the present tense, I kept asking myself "why do I need to know this?" I would've DNF'd this, but my curiosity on whether the character will learn some big important life lesson or something. Nope, in the end there's no lesson, no change, just more surviving through life (her boring life).

A lot better than The Hurricane Wars. Although a slow book and really only one major event happened, the prose is beautiful. I love how funny and quippy Tala is. Normally I don't like broody men but it's comical when Alaric does it.

Wicked cute "pretend relationship until feelings are real" trope. Can't help but love both main characters. But the fantastical wealth element in this story is truly grotesque and also unbelievable. Overall enjoyable for a light easy read.
