The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods

Confusing in the beginning. Not sure if that was bc I listened on audio and sometimes diff timelines aren't as obvious via audio. Overall, this story was a bit of a bore. The characters weren't unlikeable, but they also weren't likeable either. They were just meh. I feel like a magical vanishing bookstore plotline has tremendous potential but this story fell flat.

Found this sequel more riveting than the first. Wow what an ending.

Hard to follow. The riddles and puzzles made zero sense to me. Too many new characters introduced right away without giving sufficient time to know them well enough to tell them apart. Things got easier to follow in the last 15% of the book. I liked the Inheritance Games series a way better.

I really took the time to read this book, and reread sections before moving on. Some bits were hard to read because the nostalgia hit too close to home, both in the best and worst ways. Which made this book the most relatable thing I've ever read. It was like reading about my own life, my own teenage thoughts, my own millennial cringe. I didn't want to finish reading this book because it almost felt like I would also draw near to the end of my own life. Hence the 11 month reading journey. But the year is ending and figured now's as good a time as any to complete it.

A post breakup journey that's comical, inspiring, and relatable. It's everything that I thought Dolly Alderton's Good Material would be but failed. This is basically the successful version of that plotline.

Terrible. I have regrets. I should've DNF'd it. Took me 3 weeks to slog through this. 3 weeks of me dreading picking it back up and me hating every second my eyes glossed over pages. Idk why I didn't just DNF'd, especially after I read multiple reviews where haters confirmed that this contained no additional fun anecdotes. I'm so mad I didn't listen to them.

Great and entertaining, but not quite a page turner.

Terribly confusing. I don't even know how many characters there actually were in this story. I don't even know for sure the ages of the characters. Maybe it was confusing because I read this on audio and perhaps the narrator didn't do a very good job differentiating character voices. But I read "A Tiny Upward Shove" which had the same premise of a soul bouncing between bodies, and that wasn't confusing like this book is. Normally I'd try actually reading the book to make sure my opinion remains the same, but honestly I'm too mad. The only good thing about this book is that it's short so you're not wasting too much of your life on it.
