Where I Belong by J. Daniels

First of all, OMG Nolan was absolutely ADORABLE! Loved him!
The story was nice too. I liked Mia and Ben individually and as a couple. Alpha-jerks in love are always so sweet! Although they can often be a bit misguided as well. The sex scenes were great, just the right amount of everything.
Tessa (Ben's sister and Mia's best friend) and Luke (Ben's best friend) were really funny as supporting characters also. And they have their own story brewing, which I'm sure promises to be really interesting.
All in all, a great read.

Ugh! F*king Zach. He was such a mothereffing phsyco.
So yeah, the whole book was about Zach getting crazier and crazier, and going farther and farther on his plans to hurt Rimmel and Romeo, so he could satisfy his need for revenge. I gotta say things got waaaay outta control in the end. Shit totally hit the fan! It was super nerve wracking, and awesome and painful.
Fun thing, I started reading this book while on a plane (the book starts off with Rimmel flying back from Florida after winter break), and I laughed at the whole "there are better chances of this crazy "X" thing happening than of the plane crashing". I laughed to myself for like 15 minutes straight. Too bad there was no Romeo to pick me up and welcome me home when I reached my destination! hahaha.
Still loved the AlphaBuzzBoss notifications at the beginning of every chapter. Some of them cracked me up!

I'm gonna be honest. For the entirety of this book I just wanted it to be over so I could finally get to Braeden and Ivy's story! As I've said before I felt like Romeo and Rimmel's story could have been done with the first book.
This one was basically about Romeo overcoming his injury from the previous book to finally reach his dream, people wanting to extort him for money, the on again, off again drama of Romeo's mom and Rimmel's relationship. And basically setting the ground work for the next book.
If you're like me and read this one with the sole purpose of getting to the next one, my recommendation is that you skim the book. The end and the epilogue were good so those parts are worth reading.

Sooo... This was a hard book to rate.
On one hand it really sucked me in. Ryland turned out to be so sweet (also I really liked that name. Joclyn, not so much).
On the other, there were a bunch of things that kinda annoyed me.
For example, there were conversations, especially towards the beginning that felt super rigid and forced, and made me keep thinking 'who the hell speaks like this in real life?'. Also all the OBVIOUS things that Joclyn took FOREVER to figure out. I get creating confusion in the MC as to not reveal all the plot twists. But, if knowing nothing, I can figure it out after two pages, then so should she! You need to start questioning the things that happen around you, Joclyn. Like yesterday.
The thing that took the cake, though, was how much of a helpless, useless coward Joclyn was in the end. They willingly took her to the 'final battle' (which usually doesn't happen), and the only things she did were fly away and hide! What the heck was up with that! After all the declarations of unparalled devotion and undying love, when she had the chance to save Ryland she totally threw it out the window! That pissed me off beyond words.
So, to be honest, I guess the ending kind of ruined the book for me. I'm hoping in the next one Joclyn grows a spine. Because if she doesn't, even if I really wanna how this story continues, I don't know if I'll be able to stand her.
And also, the last thing. Ilyan is sooo putting the moves on her. But knowing Joclyn she won't ever realize it. WAKE UP, GIRL! And, Ilyan I SEE YOU.

Waaaaaay too much Ilyan. I just like Ryland better.
Also, the whole Jos being a Drak felt a little too much like "lets give her MORE power for absolutely no reason at all, except to make her less useless". I don't really like this whole lets empower a whining coward. Everything would've been a lot easier to accept IMO if she had that fire inside her from the beginning. The desire to make a difference, to help others, even when her physical abilities weren't enough to do so. Plus everything magic related comes too easy for her.
And how on earth could she not tell from the beginning that Ilyan's plan was to bond himself to her? How naive can you be? Seriously!
I liken Thom and Dramin. They were fun characters.
But, back to what I first said, go TeamRyland. I wanna see him happy.

and yes, whatever Ilyan was lonely for a long time. Boo hoo. Ryland was legit turtured (physically and emotionally) so his father could break his mind enough to make him think that the love of of life was a threat. Something that they later did to Joclyn too, to also break their connection on her end. I just want them t find their way back to eachother!.Also, the whole Jos being a Drak felt a little too much like "lets give her MORE power for absolutely no reason at all, except to make her less useless". Loved how they actually were good friends before anything else, the slow build up was awesome. Wished we could've seen more of them! Such a cute couple. I didn't completely agree with the way Adam handled some things, but oh well, it was still an incredibly entertaining book.

To be completely honest I didn't like this one nearly as much as the first one. Corey was such an amazing MC, it's gotta be hard to live up to that.
I think my biggest issue with this book was that I couldn't really relate to either Scarlet or Bridger, and so I wasn't at all invested in what happened to either of them. And because I didn't care everything seem bland. Still I'm giving it 3 stars because the story did keep some of my interest and it was fairly well written.
I don't know if I'll be reading any more book from this series.

My impression of this book is hard to put into words.
It was a bit overtly angsty for my tastes. Given the subject, of course it was a given that it was gonna be a really emotional story. But, in my opinion, it went just a little too far, to the point it became repetitive.
Another thing I found to be a bit of an overstretch was the fact that they were basically in love with eachother from the get go. They were virtually strangers. I kinda feel like they both built up a person inside their minds and that's who they fell in love with. It was like they loved an idea and not an actual person (and what other option was there if they didn't even know eachother's name?). Because of that, it felt a touch unbelievable that they fell in love so fast.
IDK, I just felt like it was missing something. I really loved the song, though!

I sort of feel that this book was longer than it may have needed to be. When I read romance books, the part I most look forward to is the 'this is how we met' part. Also, all the sexual tension and general hotness before the main characters hook up. Once they've gotten together I quickly get bored unless something interesting and exciting is going on.
I think that's what happened with this story. They got together rather early in the book, so by the time I got to 70% I was already kinda over it. I get the last part of the book (that last bit of drama) was necessary and all to really wrap up the story and tie all the loose ends. I also really cemented Garret and Hannah's relationship. But, to be honest, I could've done without it.
The parts I enjoyed the most were when Hannah was with Garret and all his roommates. Those guys were hilarious.
As far as characters go, Hannah was okay. I didn't love her, but I didn't hate her either. Garret was an overconfident, cocky jerk in the best possible way. He hit that perfect level of arrogance that made him endearing, as opposed to him just coming off as an a-hole.
What kinda disappointed me was.
I enjoyed this book, but I wouldn't read it again.

that the author didn't explore at all the fact that Logan (Garret's BFF) was sorta in love with Hannah. She just threw that bit out there and then ignored it. It frustrated me because that story line brimmed with deliciously dramatic potential. It could have been soooo good. I guess there's a possibility of it being mention in the next book, seeing as that one's Logan's story. But that's not really enough to make me want to read itI enjoyed this book, but I wouldn't read it again.

I know, I know... I said I wasn't gonna read this one. But thank god I didn't listen to myself! I just kept thinking about Logan lusting after his best friend's girl, and I couldn't help myself. Another reason I decided to give this book a go was to read more of Logan abbreviations (since they always made me laugh in the first book), but in that way the book was a total disappointment! I had only one acronym: B&B, which, if I remember correctly, means bed and brag.
I had to admit I enjoyed Logan and Grace's story a lot more than Garret and Hannah's. I'm not really sure why, but I liked Grace a lot better than Wellsy (as a side note, I find it totally weird that Garret's friends use the same term of endearment as him to refer to his girlfriend).
I also liked the overall story better. The tension was kinda maintained throughout the book, an that was great cause it kept me in the edge of my seat the whole time. The sex and the not sex was all crazy hawwwt!
Are all the books from this series gonna have distinctive, non-traditional parental stories? Let's recap the ones here
That ending was waaaaay too convenient. Elle Kennedy just can't stop herself from wrapping up her book endings with big, pretty bows. I wouldn't have been opposed to a more realistic, less perfect ending. Life isn't perfect, so why should books be? For a moment, when Logan's brother's gf went to the hospital, I thought they would find out she was preggers, prompting them to stay in Munsen, and liberating Logan form his promise. But nope, his dad decided after years of drinking like crazy to go to rehab again, thus giving Logan the chance to choose hockey.
Anyway, I still enjoyed the story and the crazy chemistry between Logan and Grace. The list of romantic gestures Grace forced Logan to complete in order to go out with him was crazy funny.
Seeing as this book had a 'two years later' epilogue, does that mean the next book will pick up there? I don't think so. I wouldn't make much sense to have the story pick up again with all of them already graduated, would it?

Grace's parents were divorced and as different as can be, but still super friendly towards eachother. Logan's parents were also divorced, his mom had remarried and his dad was a raging alcoholic. I kept going back and forth between anger and pity regarding him, and I felt sad that Logan's sense of family and responsibility made him believe he had to sacrifice himself and be miserable. That ending was waaaaay too convenient.
