I found the characters very real and lovable (in spite of them being quite insufferable -but i suppose that's the point-) and enjoyed the subtle way in which the author took on the themes of grief, ego, greed, religion and family. i think i read this book at the right time and found it very human, vulnerable and touching.

as a painter and art history lover, this was a really fun read. I appreciated the more practical advice and found that most of it can be extremely beneficial to beginner (or more advanced) painters today. the author is quite funny, the introduction was very useful, I'd really recommend this book :))
