more poetry and less prose than taïas other books, which some might prefer but I didn't. still great, but he's got better

I tried to read this a few years ago and couldn't get past the first few chapters, I felt then that the style was too stuffy and the characters too stereotypical. this time around I listened to the book (which I rarely do) and I looooved it. it feels honest and real and extremely relevant and modern despite my misgivings. there's something in here for every queer person to contemplate and recognize and I urge you to give it a proper chance like I finally did, thank god

did not know this would be full on horror - very unpleasant and sexual horror, but in a way that I like. could have gone without the hate of fat people, but that's somerset. go to therapy man

slow to start but by the halfway point you will be invested and as the mystery starts to unravel I guarantee shock and horror. loved it

i listened to this as an audiobook and i was doubting whether it was worth it like 20 minutes in, but kept listening and boy... so worth it. what a fun, educational ride! actually ended up loving it, although i had to roll my eyes every time the author dropped a bad pun -> "for lou, it turned out to be a perfect day ;)))" and shit like that. but i rock with him still

unsatisfying, clumsy. the prose does not deliver at all, I was hoping for something gritty resembling Last exit to Brooklyn or the like and the writing here just really isn't good enough to accurately convey the horrors of addiction etc.
