well written and definitely of its time. at times hard to read because of its subject.

proves that trans men can also be kind of boring middle aged guys.

I'm being facetious of course, but the writing is not particularly engaging even though the topic is. reminds me a lot of biographies I've read by other men from the same era which in itself is interesting. still, I'm grateful for the authors undeniable bravery

extremely engaging. at times the style is melodramatic, but that is a product of the time in which it was written - and also, if there is any topic that deserves melodrama, it would be this. should be obligatory reading for all americans

it did remind me of my own childhood and my own family despite them being so different. at times silly, at times shockingly emotional. actually gasped near the end (you might know when) and found myself tearing up even though i thought it hadnt affected me much. apparently it did

apparently my edition had like 50 extra pages at the end of only analysis so it hit me hard when i realized the last chapter indeed was the Last Chapter. very rich and interesting text, so i understand the need for discussion

felt restricted by its format. i think i would have enjoyed this more if the author had more room to elaborate on her thoughts and experiences
