Oh wow! Such an amazing ending to this trilogy. I was so sad and so happy at times and how many story threads came together. I am in awe of Hobb‘s ability to write characters and their relationships with so many nuances.

Listened to this after I watched the first movie. If I wouldn’t have watched it, I think I would have been even more confused more.

The first part of the book was very interesting. After that it got more difficult for me to get through. In general more focus was spend on how kids learn to read than I expected. In general an interesting book but it took me quite some motivation and brain tissue to get through at some points.

I‘m not sure what I think about this book. I think the fact that the chapter were published previously as short stories, doesn‘t really help it and makes it consuming disjointed at times. I really like the beginning and the end but I almost quit in the middle, because it was quite gruesome (look at the content warnings). I still feel like I learned some things about Korean history from the last century.

Another great book by Robin Hobb. This is very clearly the middle of a trilogy, many small things happen but somehow not a lot happens, with a great set up for the final book. It is amazing to see all of the relationships evolve (good and bad) with Hobb‘s amazing prose.
