The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith
3.0
Interesting concept but the characters were a bit unlikable till about 60% through where they started to develop and hints and uncovering of secrets began to happen. It was sloe to begin with too. The last 40% had more a movement of what a fantasy should have though the language and writing style would be more suited to a romance novel. This I did find making to read hard and is like Hive (scfi written in contemporary style) where the last part of the book was more interesting. I can see why others may give up before halfway but might be a gateway book for Romance readers to get into fantasy. Hopefully the next book is better.
Whisky Galore by Compton Mackenzie
4.0
An interesting story and a lot different from the movie. It is a book that you need to take your time reading especially if you are not a native speaker of Scottish Gaelic (but due to 'The Outlander' TV show I did know one word). It was good that it did have a glossary at the back of the book. I did find the book really funny. Just found the fact the reason whether or not the islanders got in trouble over the whisky resolved three quarter through the book. The rest of the book was more a window/ long epilogue to what happen afterwards. Overall a good read and thank you to Mum recommending this book.
Life & Laughing: My Story by Michael McIntyre

Very interesting, very funny and helped to get more of an insight to some of his jokes. Also a really inspiring story too. Michael reading the audio book meant you got a little extra than just normally reading the book itself. So going to recommend this to my friends.
The Woggle-Bug Book by L. Frank Baum, Fiction, Fantasy, Fairy Tales, Folk Tales, Legends & Mythology by L. Frank Baum
2.0
It would give this title 2.5 stars if I could but Goodreads doesn't do half starts. It is short and could have been cut in half as the second half feels a bit tack on. It is interesting to read book written in the past where language politically correct terminology is not a thing. In fact I found when I came across it a bit shocked. Sign of our times I suppose. Though overal an interesting look at what a foreigner or alien makes of the western world.
Zenobia by Morten Dürr

OMG this is a truly fantastic graphic novel that portrays the plight of people escape war by boat from a child point of veiw. This is an emotionally hatd hitting story with driffent colour schemes depicting present, past and imagination as it jumps from one to the other. This really pulls at the heart stings more so than any documentary or book I have read on the same topic. Diffently a must MUST read.
Dark Emu - Black Seeds: Agriculture or Accident? by Bruce Pascoe
5.0
It was great having Bruce Pascoe narrate his own book. It a shame that it is only now that we as a Nation are just starting to look into native agriculture and plants and then not as native communities pushing it but other Australian who are more studying (according to Landline story 7/6/20). It is sad that the history of Australia is so white washed and most of this knowledge is close to being lost as Indigenous Australian loose the knowledge of the land as they are pushed to accept the Western thoughts and practices.
Infused: Adventures in Tea by Henrietta Lovell
5.0
A wonderful and inspiring journey with the author in the world of tea. I listened to the audio edition and it was fantastic. It made tea sound so much better than the best wine. I have had some of these teas and they are incredible. Can't wait to try some of the tea recipes or the other types of tea from her company. As an audio book it almost felt like you were listen to a book that was a bit naughty, greaty way to portray what a luxury good loose leaf tea can be.
The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri
2.0
This is seriously not a book I would normal read. Read this for a reading challenge. Just found it too depressing and boring. A biography instead of a work of fiction would be better to explore this subject. This as an audio book was just long and even listen to the author at the end of the book proves she drift from her first aim of the book. I would have preferred if she collected and published the children's stories in their own words instead of exploring tgeir story through adult eyes.
When the Ground Is Hard by Malla Nunn

Felt the story was slow only teally became interesting around the last quarter. Did like the narrator of the audio singing the end.
Napalm and Silly Putty by George Carlin

2 hour stand up performance in book format. I love George Carlin's observation on life. I laughed my self sick.
