Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Alright, wow! Hands down the best YA Fantasy that I've ever read! Each individual character felt unique and their dynamics when interacting with one another had me feeling some serious real human emotions. The darker elements of this story felt incredibly adult, and that grit only aided to make the stakes feel higher and more tangible for the reader. A ragtag, morally grey band of thieves and worse...I really couldn't ask for more. Would love to see Kaz and Jorg from The Broken Empire Trilogy duke it out.

I took a little time each day this month to dip my toes into this honest and heartfelt collection from Jonny Sun. It was calm and yet so raw. Much of his prose resonated with me, and I highly recommend giving this a read!

2.75 stars. Certain parts of this captivated me, but mostly, I found myself feeling apathetic about which direction our main character (an entitled adult child with imposter syndrome, who blames all his troubles on women) was headed.

This felt very much like a three star read for me for the majority of my time spent with it, however, I found myself crying a little at the ending and my emotions ramped up this read one star. A solid Lord of the Flies esque tale, with some sweet moments tossed in as to not make it too grim.

This was fine! I’ve never read anything from Colleen Hoover before, and I found this to be entertaining. I am personally not a huge fan of plots that would simply dissolve if the characters would sit down and have a conversation, and yet I had enough fun with the conflict presented to read this to completion.

3.75 stars! I appreciated the issues this book tackled, as they’re relevant even now. Japanese racism is something that few are bold enough to talk about and dissect. I’ve seen anti-Korean rallies and those alt-right vans with my own two eyes, and it’s shameful. However, it felt as though the characters themselves lacked depth. I think this story would benefit from being longer, but that’s just me! The relationship between violence and “familial love” was also something I appreciated represented on page. I enjoyed this one!

4.5 Stars! Alright, wow. A fast paced, high stakes continuation to The Wolf of Oren Yaro. I devoured this in a handful of greedy sittings. I found the party banter to be a super effective way to break up the tension that kept brimming in the seemingly endless action, as well as I felt it fostered even deeper connections to characters which I previously had come to adore. This book had me laughing, crying and chewing the absolute hell out of my nail cuticles. It's nearly midnight, and yet I am contemplating diving into the third chronicle for just a few chapters....

Also, I will forever be a Khine stan. What a rare, wholesome idiot.
