The Maid by Nita Prose

I liked the main character which was what kept me reading. The story was from the main character's perspective which might account for how the story was told, but it was very wordy with poor dialogue. The story dragged.

The chapters of the book contain an understanding of how we tend to think or feel or act written in simple language with good examples. There follows one of more practices relating to this. And then comes more on the science/studies that pertain. The chapters then build on one another with a final short chapter summarizing.
The teaching is very practical and the teacher gives me the feeling that he, too, has had the difficulties we confront when we meditate. So often he says "this is natural" when speaking about one of these difficulties. He even shows how difficulties can show that we are doing fine as well as simple ways to work with them. He's encouraging and gives a sense of being right there in it with the reader.
This seems to possibly be the best book on meditation I've read. I say "possibly" because I haven't yet done the practices long enough to know much and also because it may be that this book seems excellent because it brings together so much of what I've read and practiced in the past. So, time will tell. I got the book from the library, so now I'll need to buy it in order to have it long enough to really use. The practices are simple to do, but I'll need to go through the book slowly learning them one by one. I'm sure it will be helpful to read over each section fully, practice for a week or more, and then move on to the next section.

I read the first 31 books in the series in 3 years and having caught up with the author I had to wait a year for the next one. Well worth the wait! The usual great narration on the audio version.

Wonderful little book with short chapters full of simple ways of being peace, of seeing the connections we have with everything. The feeling I had was that he was taking my hand and walking along with me, lovingly trying to help me see.

A variety of essays from people who knew Bede Griffiths and shared his thinking in various ways. I especially enjoyed Teasdale's Introduction telling us who Bede Griffiths was. Bruteau's essay was another favorite. This was a good introduction to Bede Griffiths for me making me want to read some of his work.

I listened to the audio version and liked the narration. There were stories of several characters who meet for a week of relaxation. The story of the person who now owns the establishment is one of trials through which she has learned much that matters in life. This is a most enjoyable book.

I listened to this 2-hour audiobook. It contains short segments on Einstein's thoughts about time given as little stories showing a world where time behaves in different ways. It is an interesting way of showing these written by a physicist who can get such ideas across in this delightful format. It's not a page-turner! But it is short.
