I couldn't tear myself away. Usually with any book - especially if it's more than 100 pages - I'll zone out for a bit; whatever I'm reading will spark some thought in my head and I'll be lost for a minute or two. But not with this, not with This One Summer, and to be honest, I don't know why. I keep trying to come up with words or phrases to describe this book and all I can think of is "raw". I never had a summer home my family visited every year, or a single best friend, or lived near some older kids whose gossip I'd listen in on, but this story felt oddly nostalgic, and honest. It just felt so real, and I really hope it'll be continued as a series, or perhaps a tv series adaptation.

I went into this having absolutely no expectations, I was merely intrigued by the plot, but I ended up loving this book so much! And to be honest the main reason why is because I love mysterious schools and cartoonish art. I really liked the students, they made me feel like I was reading a YA novel, until any of the adults appeared then I felt like I should be reading to a bunch of kids for story time, I felt that way as I read the ending, too. Now I know what happened to the girls is fairly self explanatory, but I'm just dying for a sequel. I want to learn more about
the statue, and K's parent's, the residents of Moorlock's Gate, and what exactly happened to Dr. Kuvac
. Unless Richard Sala is an M Night Shyamalan type who likes to leave his consumers hanging, in which case I will sadly have to stop myself from reading any of his other books, as I hate being left hanging

This is just a cute little encyclopedia about various creatures found in the mythical world of Harry Potter. The descriptions weren't too extensive, seeing as how they're purely fictional, and there were only a few illustrations, while I was hoping for at least most of the creature descriptions to come with some sort of visual.
