This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki
5.0
I couldn't tear myself away. Usually with any book - especially if it's more than 100 pages - I'll zone out for a bit; whatever I'm reading will spark some thought in my head and I'll be lost for a minute or two. But not with this, not with This One Summer, and to be honest, I don't know why. I keep trying to come up with words or phrases to describe this book and all I can think of is "raw". I never had a summer home my family visited every year, or a single best friend, or lived near some older kids whose gossip I'd listen in on, but this story felt oddly nostalgic, and honest. It just felt so real, and I really hope it'll be continued as a series, or perhaps a tv series adaptation.
