Not sure if this will be a spoiler alert but I spoiler alerted this review anyways.

Okay, so personally I really enjoyed the first few books of this series (bearing in mind I read this when I was 16) because it was SO different to a lot of the books on the market then. Well, I thought so anyways. I think it was creative, from the storyline to all the characters (not just the FL and ML) and the descriptions allowed me to visualise this completely fantastic world up to the smallest details.
I kind of lived in this made up world because it was so cool, kind of different to the usual fantasy romance story, and the FL was strong.
The romance was the least part too, which I didn't mind because we could follow the FL through her journey to find herself without being bombarded with unnecessary male distractions. Although maybe a few more kisses would've been cute haha. I do remember crying at some point because I felt really bad for the ML but that I won't spoil, I definitely developed a strong connection to the characters ahaha.
I also loved the side characters. I can't remember too much else since I read this about 4 years ago but I really enjoyed the first 2 or 3 books of this series so I recommend it to someone who enjoys fantasy romance books where the FL plays a huge role in discovering herself.

Wow, I really enjoyed the book! I loved the characters, Ash and Puck dynamic was very interesting and for a moment I thought maybe their hatred was because they had both loved the same woman, so it was a surprise to learn that it was a little bit different.
The world building was so interesting, the idea that when people forget about the fairies with cease to exist and that a new type of fey was coming to life, one that fed from people's new love for technologies.
I like that Meghan's loyalty is her downfall and that she embraces it, she's not afraid to die if it means everyone she loves gets to live.
I don't think I got it wrong, Puck loves Meghan right? Either way, I sincerely hope he heals fast!
I'm excited for the next book, the whole deal's stuff is very interesting, they can't go back on their promises and it will be interesting to see how Puck and Ash will deal with their oath to kill one another now that Meghan is in the way.

I was hoping for Tam Lin, but it was an enjoyable enough start to a series or trilogy or what have you.

Everything about this book screams amazing. This is the book that ignited my love for books again.

Meghan Chase was just a normal teenage girl struggling with the drama of highschool...or so so she thought. She is actually a half-summer fey of the Summer court. Not only is she part fey but a fey princess, daughter of King Oberon. Julie expertly throws in facts, stories, and characters from A Midsummer's Night Dream.

After her half-brother is taken she dives into the world she has never known other than a fairy-tale. Her best friend is not who she thought he was but the infamous Robin Goodfellow, court jester to King Oberon. Along the way she runs into Ash, the winter prince, third son of Queen Mab. A hot fey who Meghan quickly falls for but their love is forbidden. A summer fey and winter fey are to never mingle. They are eternal enemies not to be fraternized with. But who can deny destined love. Ash was to never love again but even he, being an emotionless; cold-hearted fey, can't push away his feelings. Puck, Meghan, and Ash all set out to find Ethan, Meghan's little brother, from the hands of the Iron Court. The very people who can be the downfall to the oldbloods. Stakes are higher than ever and danger is waiting at every corner.

I had so much fun reading this book and re-read it twice before I got the second one. I recommend these books to every one who loves a bit of love conflict, suspense, emotional ties and a whole lot of sexy! :)

Congratulations Julie Kagawa you have created such a gorgeous world. Amazing characters and a romance that will leave you gasping for more. And a love triangle that actually intrigues me and doesn't seem forced for the sake of young adult drama.

this book was hard for me to get into. the first part felt like Alice in Wonderland. Though the story picked up in the last 70 pages, i found myself unfeeling towards the characters. However, the ending tied things up nicely, and i am excited to read the next book in the series.

I have to say that I very nearly DNF'd this book. It irritated me quite a bit but I just wanted to finish it so I did.

So, the main reason why this book annoyed me was that it seemed to want you to suspend your disbelief of certain things, to accept that things happen "just cause". A deus ex machina, if you will, that this person is powerful because I said so and this happens because I said so rather than having an actual explanation for things. For example, the magic system seemed to have no explanation at all, or very little, and it irked me. Furthermore, this book also seemed to expect you to have certain knowledge about things that people might not have. There were characters in it from A Midsummer Night's Dream, and although I did know some things about these characters, it annoyed me that it was essentially vital to the story that we know about these characters. Finally, it annoyed me that there was so much description of various creatures but again no explanation of their magical powers, and there were so many creatures that honestly by the end I was just mainly reading the dialogue because I just didn't care, so it is very unlikely that I'll read the next book unless I have not a lot else to read. 2.5 stars.
