Yet another excellent installment in the Chet & Bernie series. I read this one in one sitting, edge of my seat for awhile.

I truly enjoy this particular series of books. The cases are rather interesting and tend to be deep, but not so deep that it takes full concentration. I truly love how Spencer Quinn has been able to capture the dog’s perspective in this book and since I am a dog person I tend to find myself laughing at the little dog gestures and thoughts of that pop-up throughout the book. Super entertaining for sure.

This particular book is one of my favorites as they case being solved is very interesting and I was not easily able to tell who the perpetrator(s) were, so I just we left having to think the story line through.

Lots of action in this one and a very enjoyable read as always. Chet and Bernie end up taking a road trip to the mountains of Colorado to search for a missing child after being hired to protect the child's mom. The only inconsistency in the story line is how inept and trusting Bernie is in his financial life and how he's such a good reader of human behavior in his private investigative duties. The guy is a West Point graduate, give me a break. Living payday to payday as an idealist is getting old. I'm hoping Suzie and Bernie will hook up for good in the next installment.

#57 Book Read in 2012
The Dog Who Knew Too Much
by Spencer Quinn

This is the fourth book in the Chet and Bernie series. Chet is a dog who tells the story of helping his owner, Bernie, on their cases, as Bernie is a private investigator. In this book, Chet and Bernie are hired by a woman to find her missing son, who was at a wilderness camp and never returned for an overnight hike. Not a simple missing persons case, as the boy's father has a criminal bent and got involved in some shady dealings with people local to the camp. Chet and Bernie take a few shots along the way but continue to try to track down the boy.

This series is a fun one to read. The books are good mysteries. Chet and Bernie are great characters and have a nice connection. Secondary characters like Bernie's girlfriend Suzy are also well-developed. There is a lot of humor in these books, especially in Chet's telling of the story. I recommend this series.
