As it turns out, Callie ended up leaving too, but she comes back years later to run the bakery with her mom. Lewis has avoided the town for years, but the two run into each other at an event for his sister. After they spend the night together, Callie leaves, but Lewis is quick to follow her and moves back home. He has plans of never letting her go and begins to appreciate her in a way he never has before. However, Callie is hesitant and later learns that she is pregnant. The two have a lot of history to overcome, but despite that their love for the other is still there. The past is not the only obstacle they are up against. Callie is being threatened. She ends up have to move into the house Lewis bought for them, and the two grow even closer. I hate that the she had to deal with doubts from the townspeople, but I’m glad we go to see Carianne’s growth. It’s so interesting that we got to see how the events their parents experienced have affected them, especially Lewis and Callie. We had glimpses of what everyone saw as their future together, but we got to see how that actually played out (and it was not as we were thinking it would be). They were just kids and had their whole lives ahead of them. I love the Highlands and the stories of the families who live there. I’m excited for the next one, especially if it is going to be who I think it is. This is my favorite book so far by Samantha Young.

I don’t know how she does it every single time. Just when I think that I’ve read my favourite book by Samantha Young and met my favourite couple, she turns up with Callie and Lewis.
Firstly, talk about an amazing start to the second generation of highland magic. We met our old favourites and got to know Lewis, Eilidh, Callie as adults, and the rest of the brood as not so little kids. The time skip was quite big and still it felt like I’ve never left Ardnoch - just the way I like it.
Lewis grew up to be an incredible man, just like his dad, and yowza, if devotion had a name, it would be his.
Callie is a fantastic example of someone who needed to find themselves, and I adored that she wasn’t perfect, and even more so that she put in the work to be better.
Now, this is a couple that had been in the making for decades, and I’ll fight anyone that says they weren’t made for each other. I cried so much while I read this book; in parts expected while some scenes took me by surprise.
It was incredible (and heartbreaking) that they grew into themselves alone and still ended up being the perfect counter pieces for one another.
Northern Twilight is by far my favourite book by Samantha Young and I can confidently say that it was my favourite book of the summer. I’m not lying, I’ve read it 3 times already. In the bus, on night shifts, in various locations at home and on a special date at the National Museum of Scotland - you’ll get it soon.
I can’t wait to get to know Eilidh and Fyfe.
And we all know Eilidh will charm the heck out of him and us!

With Lewis and Callie always being in the background of the Adair world it was wonderful to finally get their story. Watching them grow up in the periphery of other characters’ books meant I was already invested in their love story long before I ever started Northern Twilight. Seeing the flashbacks to their teenage years and then coming back to their present adult worlds just showed that they were always meant to be. They came so far in this series and I could not stop reading this book to see how they ended up. So whether you choose to listen to this masterpiece or read it I know you won’t be able to put it down! Such a good childhood sweethearts/second chance romance!

If my husband doesn't refer to me as mo chridhe from this point on, I don't want it.
Callie had an awful start in life, with a crappy biological dad, and Lewis' wasn't much better, losing his birth mum when he was young. They came together, childhood friends, turned lovers, turned enemies.
They fall back into each other's lives (and each other) 7 years later, accidental pregnancy, unresolved feelings, miscommunication and a brief fake dating scenario, we read as Callie and Lewis realise their love for each other never died and they belong together. A few twists and turns along the way but what a beautiful, second chance love story.
"Always only ever you," excuse me while I go cry over these two.

If you are familiar with the series you already know Callie and Lewis, since this is a second generation book. We have seen those two meet, be friends and know we see them meet again after their break up.
Callie's dream was to study abroad but she always wanted to go back home and work with her mom on their bakery. It's time to make that dream a reality, she is ready to move back but she isn't ready to see Lewis again.
Lewis has just graduated and wants to stay as far away from his hometown as possible but one night with Callie reminds him all that he tried so hard to forget. Now that he had a taste of what's like to be together once again he is determined to fight to get her back.
As this is a second chance romance we see in flashbacks what happened between them the first time around, that helps to understand their dynamic and feelings.
But it's not your usual second chance romance since it is doubled by an accidental pregnancy that really helps to bring them close together.
Since I love the accidental pregnancy trope and this series, I was so glad we got to see that and especially the reactions from their families.
There is a bit of suspense in the plot as it is the theme in the series, but I would say that the couple is the main focus in the book.
I got to listen to the audiobook and boy, oh boy, that was such a treat for my ears! I loved the narrators and they way the brought the story to life.
* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

This was an easy read. For me it ended being just fine because I’ve noticed the last few books by this author are missing that connection for me with the leading couple. For two people who grew up best friends, I just wanted to feel more. Maybe if she hadn’t rushed them getting back together post pregnancy news…I think dragging that out until the end would have allowed her to build the connection more. BUT then she would have the smut scenes so if that’s the priority then nailed it. Also the “suspense” piece was very underwhelming. Looking forward to the next one though. Brothers best friend/best friends sister and I can already tell we are going to get some whitty banter.
