I really liked this one. I liked the characters, and I liked that it did not have a "happy" ending. It was realistic. Although it didn't turn out hunky dory for the homeless girl No, I liked the fact that the main character tried to help her.

1st ever entire french book read! I liked this a lot more than i thought i would- i initially thought lou was a bit pretentious but I really felt with her as the book went on. this book has some really complex and moving discussion of young people and injustice which I really liked. however I thought lucas and lou should absolutely not have got together what the hell no not the 17 year old boy and the 13 year old girl. that was a slightly shite ending imo like so many bad things happened and then it was just not resolved and finished with them kissing. ick
again: it's so bleak at the end

The ending crushed a little piece of my heart. Though I liked the plot twist.

Lou Bertignac is an intelligent 13 year old girl from Paris with an IQ of 160 who has skipped two years at school. She is unpopular at school but has a close friend called Lucas.
Lou decides to choose Homelessness for a project at school. Through this project she meets an 18year old girl called No who wanders around Paris, homeless.
The relationship starts slow, with No finding it hard to trust Lou, as she hasn’t had many people to trust in her life. They become friends and the story of No’s past is slowly revealed.
Lou’s family has some painful history, they are not perfect but nevertheless she invites No to come and stay with them, to help get her back on her feet.
The writing is simple but full of so much emotion. There are some truly spectacular quotes within the novel. It’s a heartfelt book that makes you think and gives you hope.
