Very impressive, particularly for a first-time writer. Suspenseful and fast-paced. The author did a good job of switching between perspectives. At first, the strange way he wrote the villain's internal dialogue was confusing, but once you understood the reasons, it made more sense.

I'll give this a two because I finished it, but I didn't want to finish it; I just didn't have anything else to read.
The thing that bothered me the most, and this may sound silly, but the main character, a woman from San Francisco, kept calling things their British names, like windscreen and boot. I mean, if you can't even get that right, then I can't believe that the character is from America.
Oh, and it was totally predictable.

Valerie is a detective assigned to a string of murders following two men who like to mutilate their victims. How are all the cases connected?
Damn this was graphic!!! You got to follow almost every characters point of view in this one which was intense but still good.

There's plenty going on here to keep a thriller fan interested, but nothing too innovative or new for this type of storyline. I definitely stayed intrigued while reading, but there's something about the book that kept me at a distance, like I couldn't quite get into the characters as real people. It's more like watching an episode of good crime TV, like Criminal Minds, where there is some character development, but mostly the story is about the crime itself and all the energy goes into telling that story. Nice, quick thriller without any real mystery. A good story nonetheless.

finally a book that does feel really suspenseful! but I do wonder if it was necessary to devote four pages to a minor characters sex life?

Not my usual type of read, though I did enjoy this. I think I’d of probably given five stars if it wasn’t for the vulgar descriptions of the serial killers crimes, but that was part of the twisted horror which made the story so intense. Kickass characters, from a determined little girl to the badass cop. I did feel like this was a second book though, and as if the first should have told about what lead up to this- mainly the cops relationship, both with nick, the case that broke her and how she fell into the cycle of drowning out her emotions with drink and random sex with strangers

Excellent book!! It feels like there should have been a book before this, but it was still easy to know the back story. Real page turner!

Pretty good read. Got better near the end. Found myself speed reading because I had to know what was going to happen

This was brutal and gruesome. I did like the story from the different perspectives and almost wish they went deeper into the backstory of Angelo - j expected a bit more there.
Would probably read more of this series.
