Well, this explains a lot. Veronica and Hannah had a pretty unhealthy relationship, and I can see why they would never work together. Pretty scary to think that the Casters would make a binding cord that would work in Elementals as well as Blood Witches. This book definitely sets some suspicion on who is right about Blood Witches and whether Elementals and Casters are all so good as they seem to be. It really would have been better to read this series in chronological order.

Doesn't change or give anything new to the story a repeat of what was already discussed but at least it was well written

Quick prequel novella that answers questions you may have during the first book in the series. Could be read first if you want to, I.e chronologically v release order. Which would add some additional interesting contrast and add in character development missing from the first book in the series.

This cleared up questions I had when reading These Witches Don't Burn, because I actually was hoping Veronica and Hannah would end up together, HAHAHA. BUTTTT, after reading the prequel, I am glad to have this exist. It's amazing to see just how much Hannah has grown in her self worth and how that carried into the next novel. I'm hoping to find more if in the sequel to TWDB! And along with everyone else, Veronica makes me angry, but I'm such an empath that I hope she grows as well soon enough.

I really liked this novella. Personally, I think this is a good first read before the duology. It re-explains everything we already know about the witches, which is a little annoying as I'm reading this after having finished the series, but on its own, it's thorough enough that reading it first doesn't really ruin the series, just fills in what exactly happened in NY. It made me hate V a little more than I originally did, but I still have a lot of respect for how she developed over time, especially when Hannah needs her in TCWB.
A must read if you enjoy the series! I still would love more time with these characters, and for this to be in print so I can add it to my physical collection!

Doesn't add anything too much to the overall story arc but it was so nice to see the characters that I love so much again!

So great! Love that this book helps you better to understand the emotions in the first book and provides some background. I JUST got the second book in the mail too and cannot wait to read it :)
