In ‘Buried Deep’ Private Investigator Jessie Cole is pretty busy. She’s got a missing married couple to find as well as trying to help a daughter figure out what happened to her mother 20 years ago. And Jessie’s friend crime reporter Ben Morrison isn’t having the best of time either. He’s dealing with being a suspect in a suspicious suicide as well as still trying to come to terms with his past.
I enjoyed catching up with Jessie, Zee, Olivia and Cole. A bit more of the mystery surrounding Ben’s past is also revealed. Overall a good read

Book Review: Buried Deep by T.R. Ragan
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Thriller
Published: 4/16/19
Summary: Two missing persons. One apparent suicide. Three cases pushing PI Jessie Cole and crime reporter Ben Morrison closer to the edge. Lacey Geiger could be a very rich woman. If Jessie Cole can find her. The beneficiary of a sizable estate, Lacey vanished years ago after escaping an abusive childhood and is veiled now behind a new identity. Jessie has two weeks to find her. It’s enough time to discover that Lacey is hiding from so much more than anyone realized. But she isn’t the only one with secrets. And Jessie’s not the only one searching for the truth. A concerned daughter has asked for help finding her mother - a woman said to have been murdered thirty years ago. And Jessie’s colleague Ben, an amnesiac still struggling with the bloody memories of a shattered life, is nearer to piercing together a very dark picture. Especially when someone he detests is found dead, hanging from a tree by a riverbank. Now as the mysteries, puzzles, and lies of three investigations are unearthed, Jessie and Ben will risk everything to bring all that is hidden into the light.
Review: What a great ending to this series. Everything was wrapped up at the end of the book with some happy endings and a lot of questions answered. I was surprised by the ending with Ben and was so happy for Jessie Cole. This book had a lot of ups and downs and I found myself chanting at times wanting to have things happen a certain way lol! Definitely recommend this series!

This is the last book in the Jessie Cole series, a series which I enjoyed reading & found addictive.
There are several stories in the book: Lacey – Jason kidnapping, Arlene Synder – missing person, Anne Corrigan – missing person, Roger Willis – continued from previous book, Ben’s background unravelling (his life before his accident) continued from previous books. One of these converges into another. The principal characters continue to be Jessie (private investigator) and Ben (reporter).
Lacey and her husband Jason are out to celebrate their anniversary. She is pregnant and looks forward to telling Jason about it, without realizing that he is at a stage where he is bored of her and in an affair. In the cab, they suddenly feel sick and find themselves kidnapped.
Penny, Daughter of Arlene Synder approaches Jessie, asking help in finding her mother. Her dad Nathaniel was imprisoned but later released based on DNA evidence. Jessi meets up with Arlene’s parents and friends, trying to trace what could have happened.
There is also a missing person case Jessie is asked to take up – that of Anne Corrigan, age 33. She went missing from home at the age of 16. This is connected to one of the earlier two cases.
Ben as a reporter has been asked to take up some cold cases. Roger Willis, a physical instructor who went to jail in the previous book after Ben intervenes when he misbehaves with his student is now out on bail. Many of the parents are worried. Ben still cannot recall much of what happened before his accident. Jessie also tries to help by meeting some of his neighbours.
All the stories are good though I was quite disappointed at how Ben’s story inched slowly to this book from previous ones but ended flat. This was a very enjoyable crime series with some very well-developed characters (including those in supporting roles such as Zee & Olivia). The books are interlinked in terms of carry-over of character backgrounds and hence should be read in order.

The fourth and final book in the Jessie Cole series and what a book it was! There was so much going on that it was almost too much but I was still able to follow it, I was a little disappointed that there was not as much about Ben's history as I wanted or thought there would be.
I enjoyed getting more of these characters but unlike the other books in this series in this book the characters were working on seperate cases rather than working together, I much preferred it when they worked together.
OMG, that ending!! You can't end it like that, I need more!
It was almost like the author forgot it was the last book and just wrapped it up as quickly as they could on the last page. Which is sad because this was a great series written so well, I felt the ending just didn't do it justice. In saying that I still look forward to reading more from this author.

This was a fast paced addition to the Jessie Cole series.
I enjoy the main characters and am always eager to read their developments.
The character Ben continues to be the main draw for me to this series. Further details surrounding his mysterious accident ten years earlier come to light. Frankly I am eager for more.
Overall this book was a good read - yet some areas lagged. Not my favorite in this series but a solid continuation of the story.

Dear Ms Ragan,
That ending was genius. You kept me on the edge of my seat for four books, wondering if my favorite character was going to turn out to be a monster. In the end you gave me an answer I didn’t want, and yet you made me love it! Sheer brilliance!

I haven’t made a secret of how much I love this series, especially having stumbled upon it with no advance warning or recommendations. It’s held my attention without fail, and fulfilled my need for a female lead in a serial thriller series. Jessie Cole was a great leader. However, I also haven’t hid the fact that my favorite part of these books has been Ben Morrison. I care about him. I believe he’s a good man, a caring man who loves his family deeply. He’s a multi-layered character who happens to be learning who he is while we are. I’m pretty sure you’d call him an unreliable narrator, but it was in the best way.
I’d love to read more about him, and still I hope it’s never written. I want this ending, just like this.
The Jessie Cole half of the story has also always been good. Her part of each book has been what really carries each installment’s plot, and the plot in Buried Deep was the best one so far. There’s nothing scarier than being buried. And that is not a spoiler. This author really nailed the intensity of fearing for your life, knowing you only have 20 inches above your head, and then there’s nothing but dirt. I felt my own breath getting shallower, and I’m not even claustrophobic. It was all just so perfectly well done for a thriller, and it was only 1/3rd of everything going on in this book.
You also had Zee finally getting the opportunity to run a full case on her own, and while she’s never gonna be a ‘by the book’ kinda girl, I loved her heart anyway. I’ll take her four voiced commentary anytime, and if there’s going to be any follow up stories, I’d love to read more about Zee.
Especially if reading about Zee means I get to visit with everyone else. That would make me very very happy.

Not Enough Answers
While I enjoyed this book, each crime left me wanting to know more. The ongoing mystery about Ben’s past is still lingering. I thought that the truth would’ve been revealed by now. The missing couple storyline was very interesting. I couldn’t wait to see how that would play out. Lacey was such a tenacious woman. I loved her character. The missing mom story didn’t feel believable. There were too many holes left once they solved the mystery. There was no legitimate reason given for the deception. There was a resolution of sorts for the abusive soccer coach, but it created more questions. Like each installment so far, Zee and Jessie were both very likable. I’ve enjoyed following their journey.

Not sure if I like what’s going on with Ben’s story line. But I’m determined to finish the series.
Wait- that was the end?! Just tried to download the next in the series and that’s it. Hmmmm. Not sure how I feel now.

This author is so good at writing books that are just easy reads. I am engaged and want to find out what is going on from the first paragraph.
This is book 4 and I was glad to have a quick series.
I love Zee and she makes me laugh throughout the book. Jessie has several cases in the book going on at once and it is fun to see how they all come together.
Highly recommend.
