Graham was such a jerk for the first half of Eric's book that I wasn't that happy about him getting a book. However, it ended up much better than I thought it would be. I'm betting well see Ben again.

A great and passionate story of a great and passionate big wolf, Graham, trying to balance his alpha pack leadership with his love for a human, Misty. This sassy and brave florist is the one for him, the one with enough love to make
Graham to realize there is no need to be alone... With his nephew, the terrible twins and the help of the others Shifter leaders, they are able to defeat the Fae and figure out a secret that needs to be contained. Adventures, new characters and sizzle love, three important things to make a series to be worthy.

I tried to read this awhile back and must not have been in the mood because I gave up in the first chapter. I've like so many of these books so I thought I'd give another try and lo and behold I burned through it in two days. Good book as usual. Also liked that she introduced a new race and a new shifter variation. All things that will work well in books to come.

I loved the first couple books in the series. This one felt...all over the place. The loopholes and numerous new discoveries about shifters and fae that allow for the more convenient plot devices are getting a little old. I never grew to care much about Misty and a Graham's relationship, because you never get to see it develop. The book opens and they've been dating for months. The whole thing was just kind of meh.

Graham wasn't one of my favorite shifters up until this point. He was unhappy with not being Shiftertown leader and had a chip on his shoulder about it. However, in Wild Wolf we see him more with his individual pack and the bond he has with some of them. Unfortunately, he has to keep his personal relationship apart from the pack since she is a human. Being the Alpha, his mate must be with another wolf. They've been throwing themselves at him, but he's resisted and stuck with his girlfriend Misty. He does know that at some point he's going to have to break her heart and accept his fate. Knowing all this put him in a different light for me. He wasn't the strong-willed bully trying to take over Shiftertown, there was a lot more to him. I grew to like his character more throughout the book. He looks out for his pack, and even takes in the little ones that give their foster mom too hard of a time. They are cute but sure are a handful!

Not all turmoil is in the mate department. Someone is messing with Shifters and Graham ends up in the middle of it. It is up to him to find a way to stop what is happening, or shifters are going to be in big trouble. The mystery worked itself up to a point where I was really worried for Graham. It was really surprising who comes to his aid. It was a tense battle, and more than a little heart stopping at times. The secret that is revealed though will be one that is not resolved easily. We meet a new being, definitely not fae, who will fight with the Shifters. He is going to be a very mysterious character for sure.

I really enjoyed Graham and Misty's story. Graham steps up to the plate when the time comes to make his mate decision and takes on those of the pack not willing to accept his choice. Despite being human, Misty just fits as Graham's mate and the pack has to see that.

Wild Wolf was definitely a great listen. Emotions were well narrated and Graham's inner turmoil really came through. It is going to be interesting to see how this story arc plays out and how it affects the plans of secretly removing collars.

Interesting overall plot advances. Very curious re: what will happen in the next book. Loved Matt and Kyle; Ashley has the cutest cubs.

4.5. Sexy and scarred Graham, the co-leader of the Las Vegas Shiftertown, has not had an easy life. The loss of his mate and cub years ago made him think he would never be able to love again. Leading his pack of wolves, who are so close to feral wolves as they can get, and adjusting to living within the city limits keeps him busy. Humans made his pack move from Elko to live with the other shifters in Las Vegas to keep a better watch on them.
One night after fighting Eric, the feline co-leader of Shiftertown, Graham meets Misty in a shifter bar. Dating a human is okay for him but being leader of the pack he is expected to mate with a shifter wolf. Graham thinks he can let go of the little human anytime if he just doesn't have sex with her.
Twenty years ago the shifters were all collared and sent to live in shifter run towns. The special collars were designed by the humans and Fae, who are now looking to control the shifters again. When an evil Fae traps Graham wanting to use him to hurt humans, Misty is there to help rescue him.
Love, danger, sex and challenges to leadership are all rolled into the awesome book that kept me up past my bedtime for two nights in a row. I love this series!

One of the biggest book-related surprises for me last year, was how much I loved the Shifters Unbound series by Jennifer Ashley. I've never really liked shifter romances, but I decided to give one of the books in this series a try, and ended up loving it. I'm working my way through the series, and decided to try out Wild Wolf, the 6th book in the series. However, while I liked Wild Wolf, I did have some issues with it.

What's the Story:

Graham is the alpha of his pack, but after a forced move into a new shiftertown, his pack has been quite unruly. He knows that if he took a shifter mate, his pack would calm down. But he has a human girlfriend, Misty. When Misty's life is in danger, Graham rushes to save her, but in the process he gets spelled by a Fey, and then his life gets even more complicated.

What I Liked:

  • Wild Wolf starts off with a bang. It grabbed me immediately!

  • I liked the very beginning. I enjoyed how Graham was dealing with an unruly shifter while also talking to Misty on the phone. He was just so capable, and not at all concerned with the shifter who was giving him problems. Unfortunately, my liking of Graham diminished pretty quickly (more on that below).

  • For the most part, I liked Misty. She's an intelligent woman, and she knows what she wants out of life.

  • The little shifter cubs, Matt and Kyle, were absolutely adorable. Honestly, I liked them the best out of all the other characters in the novel. They were always getting into mischief, but in the sweetest possible way. So cute! In general, Jennifer Ashley creates the best kid shifters.

  • As always, Cris Dukehart was a great narrator.

What I Struggled With:

  • Graham was too cranky for my tastes. He even ventured into asshole territory a few times there. He blamed something on Misty that I found completely unjustified and kind of babyish. Sometimes I even thought that Misty would have been better off without him. And although ultimately I was happy that they ended up together, I had issues with their romance.

  • The whole plot about the fey and the curse was not my favorite. Part of it was because I never like stuff with the fey, but I also thought it dragged on a bit too long.

  • Misty made a comment once that men don't know how to care of themselves (in terms of cleaning up after themselves, doing laundry, etc) and that totally annoyed me!

Final Thoughts:

While I enjoyed Wild Wolf by Jennifer Ashley, I had some issues with this one. There are better additions to the series, in my opinion. This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook
