A perfect summer read. Torre takes her readers through her adventures sailing across the pacific ocean, her hopes and fears and her discoveries about herself and the world. A great, at times funny, read which may inspire you in moving past your fears to explore what the world can offer.

I can’t imagine giving up modern life to sail the Pacific but I sure loved reading about it! A great memoir about love, fear and travel.

The only downside is that now I totally want to sail the world...

This is memoir about how love can push you outside of your comfort zone, but also about the importance of choosing to listen to your intuition. Think Wild but less emotionally raw and also a love story. Torre is afraid of the ocean, and decides to sail across the Pacific with a Argentinian one night stand turned boyfriend. It is inspiring to see Torre take on something that she is so afraid of and watching her grow in the process.
SpoilerIt's also really inspiring to see her go through so much growth to find herself more connected to herself. It takes a lot of courage to walk away from a goal and from a loved one. To me, walking away from Amazing Grace is more inspiring than deciding to sail it.
Overall, a really enjoyable read. Would definitely recommend as a summer read or good travel book.

I loved this book. I thought it was a great memoir about taking the chance of a lifetime on a romance and a wild adventure. I found this book so inspirational, and I wanted to drop everything and get a boat with my husband and just get out there (the kids could come too XD).
Then a dose of reality came back in when I found out the relationship did not last, and she was not happy for a big chunk of her "marvelous adventure" life. Since then, I travel as often as I can, but I am more grateful for my wonderful life with the people that love me.
None the less, this book was extremely entertaining and engaging.

It took me a little while to warm up to Torre DeRoche. I found her writing voice just slightly annoying in the beginning, but once she really got into her travel memoir, I was hooked. I LOLed many times over her misadventures and her boyfriend's clutziness and OMGed over the silly mistakes they made. It's a highly entertaining read that convinced me (not that I really needed any convincing) that I will never sail around the world...or anywhere for that matter.

When I was a 7 year old on the island of Mauritius, I was dragged out to sea by a freak current and stranded for over 4 hours. I was eventually rescued by an old fisherman and ever since, have been the proud owner of a sea phobia. Aquariums are my version of a torture chamber. However, I finished reading this and immediately wanted to leap into a sail boat and set off for Tahiti. What a crazy adventure!

The writing is choppy in parts, and both Torre and Ivan are utterly insufferable at times, but it was still a fun wanderlusty read.

Quick, interesting, well-written travel memoir- my favorite kind.
