Another great entry in this series. I really think it gets better with each book. Ellison has a clown fall into her at a haunted house. It turns out he's dead. A young man about to come into his trust fund. Ellison can't help but snoop. She's having problems with the men in her life. The humor and relationships were well done. Did I mention there was humor? But, underneath you also have an almost 40-year old women trying to find herself in the 1970s. I would recommend this series but would suggest that you read the books in order for the most enjoyment.

This is the best book in a series of great reads ! Could not put it down; sheesh--- clowns! Lots of humor mixed in and another terrific plot.

3.5* great listen. Appreciate the character development, not her most well developed mystery so far. But I look forward to the next.

Audiobook. Easy read. I didn’t like this one as much in the series. She was a little too repetitive mentioning the Mr. Coffee maker. I would have liked a big twist with one of the love interests! It’s interesting that the author has written books 1-4 to occur within in 1 year. This town has a lot of crime for her to discover so many bodies within a short time frame, and there’s usually 2-3 deaths within each book.

First:
This one starts out pretty funny, despite, yes, the topic of bodies literally falling on Ellison. It packs in her usual style of humor, the sometimes-snooty mother, a fair amount of family drama and some reluctant dating. Fun, as were books 1-3.
I enjoyed it enough that I’ll continue on in the series.
Note:
I could’ve done without hearing ‘brrriingg brrriiingg’ and ‘ding dong’ narrated every time Ellison’s phone or doorbell rang. Got to be a bit much.
Overall:
4 stars.
Audio:
Great as always, this narrator is good at her job, and overall sound quality was great.
5 stars.

I loved this one! When this one started off with a killer clown I thought I would end up hating it. Turned out to be one of my favorite so far.

Setting: Kansas City. Not sure I need to keep writing reviews as these are all very similar. Witty, eloquent language. Fun characters (especially the dog). Serious themes mixed in with light. My only complaint is the characterization of neighborhoods as “bad” which in my mind is code for racism. I realize that this is probably very true to the characters in the book, but i am not sure it adds any value and perpetuates stereotypes and division.

Detective Jones drives a Gran Torino. Of course he does. 5 stars for that.
