This book is so different from ones that I have read. I can't explain it. The dialogue between the characters... They are old worldly souls... true artists and they wear their hearts on their sleeves. You can feel the connection that they have upon meeting and you get a sense that they are truly meant to find one another. I was so consumed by this book and didn't expect the emotions that steamrolled through me. So many tears. They take you on an innocent and heart-wrenching journey of a one of a kind type of love.

This was a prime example of why I should read book summeries, I had no idea what I was getting into but I did not expect the amount of depth that I found in the story of Atticus and Hazel. So many deep thoughts, deep feelings, heartbreak, and healing. This is one of those books that changes you, leaves you appreciating life a little bit more.
I always enjoy reading books with artistic characters, maybe because I’m not artistic at all? Whatever the reason, I enjoy seeing the world through their eyes, even if it’s only for a moment.
"People who don’t appreciate art aren’t living a full life. Art, whether it’s music, paint, words, whatever the medium, busts veins of color that usually lay dormant beneath our skin. It gives life love. It opens the mind for greater pursuits."
I really have no words to say other than this story is beautiful and tragic all wrapped together. If you make it through without your heart breaking then you have to be made of stone. As always, even though it hurt to read this book I want to share my misery with you so I definitely suggest you read it!

Where to start.... wow, just wow. This is a book so many people can relate to. From growing up without things most of us take for granted, to having dreams of breaking the cycle, to having dreams changed. I refuse to post spoilers, so I will just say everyone has to read this book.

I don't know what to say. I don't real blurbs or spoilers at all, so I went in completely blind. I've read everything of Fisher Amelie's that I can get my hands on and the last 2 were light and easy, so I guess that's what I assumed this one would be too. It is not. It was deep, beautiful, painful, devastating, crushing, but then, there was hope and more beauty and love. I cried and my heart hurt, but I loved it. It was so real. Books like this make me happy that I don't read spoilers and blurbs because it would have ruined the book for me. It would have saved me heartache, but I would have missed out a wonderful story.

"This is the strangest night of my life," I told him.
"It's a good strange though?" he asked.
"A great strange, Atticus."
Atticus and Hazel. Their love story is pretty explosive and rough. They have an amazing night together - their first meeting and Atticus chasing her was pretty cute. Their little adventures that night and the way they connect was so well done.
But somewhere along the line, when I should have been pulled in, I just wasn't. Hazel was a little hard to like. She was just so stubborn and unwilling to get help from anyone. She would rather tear her own heart out than admit she was wrong. It was awful and I had wanted more from her than that.
I loved Atticus - even when he made mistakes. He was the first to own up to his flaws even when Hazel wouldn't own her own. I love how well done he was. My only annoyance from him was his obsession with constantly calling Hazel by her name.....
(I also thought all the members in the hospital calling her babe was...odd and distracting.)
all in all, I liked it but I didn't quite feel the emotional punch I should have.

The truth to this book is that it's very hard to love, but I did it anyway.
The True Story of Atticus and Hazel is so fast and chaotic but oddly enough, it's easy to comprehend. Atticus and Hazel, while both being artists, are as far from the typical romance as they go. For one— they met at a bar.Well, at least we knew Ed Sheeran's Shape of You was right about one thing LOL Their relationship is profound as it is deep in troubled waters— and the chemistry they share despite their shortcomings is just inevitable.
My main peeve about this book is Hazel— I bet you 50% of my books that if Hazel actually tried to woman up just once and handle her problems like a sensible adult, this book would have been shorter than it already is. The thing with Hazel is that she's a flightrisk, and that's okay because I've been there but— at some point, you've got to just face things and change. But we don't really see that, we see her remain her same fickle self while managing to find success and I'm all for that and all, but I need something else than that to feel for this character, y'know? I also find it almost funny that Atticus is just absolutely perfect— like the dude is so responsible and everything that it actually restored my faith in guys JK sksks
Objectively I would've rated this 3 stars but I clicked 4 the moment I tabbed it and IDK it just felt so right so I left it there. The story's honestly not as bad as I made it sound, it's a love story that continuously blooms to its full potential as the pages go by and it's pretty fun to see the changes and little shifts between Atticus and Hazel. I do wish they focused more on their past issues though because it was honestly left unresolved for the main conflict that honestly could've been solved in one conversation but hey, I had fun with this so—
