“What’s the rush, honey? We have all the time in the world.”
That final sentence just broke my heart

Eh. As I said, I’ve been unintentionally reading all TJR’s books in backwards publication order. This one sounds like it was written by a completely different person. It’s much more Colleen Hoover than TJR, with cheesy dialogue and frequently-annoying characters I don’t usually associate with TJR’s recent books. (Not hating on Colleen Hoover—much—they’re just very different writing styles) I had a hard time really feeling the grief here or connecting with Elsie’s relationship. Cool to see how TJR’s work has grown incredibly over time.

well written novel

Characters were created well. Good friendships formed. Enjoyed the ending. Good read. Can’t wait to read another book by this author.

This book was beautifully written but sent me into a personal emotional tailspin so 3 stars it is.

wow I did really love this story. Pulled at the heartstrings!

The plot isn’t linear and does alternate between the characters relationship to Elsie’s mourning. This may feel hard to follow but I actually think this made it more interesting to read.

Elsie’s character learns more about friendship and life lessons within this story alongside the romance which is a really plot thickener in this book.

The scene where they are driving to LAS Vegas was soo real and felt sincere to the situation. I really appreciated Taylor Jenkins Reid approach on this.

This shows a very important take on grief. One that I really relate to. As grief remains a huge constant in my life, I felt like I could relate to the character’s pain in some way?

Overall, I did love the concept, it felt slightly too structured at points but I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed it more than Daisy Jones & The Six book.

I listened to this book and, although  interesting, for me it wasn’t the tear jerker many people talk about it being. The story gripped me and I kept on reading, but I didn’t have a lot of empathy for Elsie. It felt like her mourning was out of proportion and her privilege showed a lot in how gracious people around her were. Maybe the author just didn’t do a good enough job of explaining Elsie’s mourning process for it to be believable for me. Overall, the book  kept me interested though and I never felt like putting it down and not finishing.
