Rylie has moved back home with her parents after her boyfriend has cheated on her. She takes on a summer job as a park ranger and becomes embroiled in a murder when one of the fisherman is foind dead after catching a huge Catfish.

Should have read the blurb before getting this book as it wasn't what I thought it was going to be.

There was no real mystery and nothing to get your teeth stuck into. The characters acted like overgrown children rather than adults and it was quite boring in places.

I was attracted to the cover and decided to take a chance and boy I am super glad I did! Overall, I enjoyed reading Catfished - even though I didn't always like the MC or agreed with her choices.

Added the next few books to my collection and will continue on with the Rylie journey shortly.

This wasn't good. Rylie burns the sympathy I otherwise would've given her for being relatably unsure about what to do with her life by being whiny and judgemental. She/the author has to use misogynistic terms (wench, bimbo, tramp) to describe Nikki, who is made a  cartoonish mean girl, when in real life she would probably just be the experienced, competent, beautiful woman that the self-conscious Rylie resents. Rylie also repeatedly rushes into danger despite being warned not to and then gets in trouble or injured. While this commonly happens in cozy mysteries since the sleuths are amateurs, Rylie just seems foolish, and like she deserves to be fired. The author constantly insults the appearance of all the female characters in the book. Antonio sexually harasses the women interns, which though realistic, is gross, especially because the author feels the need to redeem him in the end. The author also goes out of her way to describe his wife as "horse-faced" as if that justifies his grossness. Throw in a completely unnecessary sentence about Riley's nail technician speaking broken English... Tl;Dr Not recommended.

Not bad for a debut. I'm not sure about the murder motive, but it was a fun, quick story.

The MC could not decide if she was career serious or boy crazy. She didn’t feel consistent enough with any of her personality traits. This was very predictable.

Fishing can kill you

Rylie is back home after leaving that idiot Troy. She needs to find a job and move on with her life. She finally finds one, makes a friend or two, and finds a dead body. Follow the story where Rylie and Luke, who is a cop now and her high school sweetheart, try to find a killer.

A lot of fun to read. Good book to keep you guessing.
