This wasn't good. Rylie burns the sympathy I otherwise would've given her for being relatably unsure about what to do with her life by being whiny and judgemental. She/the author has to use misogynistic terms (wench, bimbo, tramp) to describe Nikki, who is made a  cartoonish mean girl, when in real life she would probably just be the experienced, competent, beautiful woman that the self-conscious Rylie resents. Rylie also repeatedly rushes into danger despite being warned not to and then gets in trouble or injured. While this commonly happens in cozy mysteries since the sleuths are amateurs, Rylie just seems foolish, and like she deserves to be fired. The author constantly insults the appearance of all the female characters in the book. Antonio sexually harasses the women interns, which though realistic, is gross, especially because the author feels the need to redeem him in the end. The author also goes out of her way to describe his wife as "horse-faced" as if that justifies his grossness. Throw in a completely unnecessary sentence about Riley's nail technician speaking broken English... Tl;Dr Not recommended.
