Beautifully done. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the trilogy.

Like Half of a Yellow Sun, another book about a violent war I never knew about...

Mitenhän tämän nyt muotoilisi. Kaunis tarina, vahva kertomus, suurten tunteiden näyttämö.

I really enjoyed this well written story of a Bangladeshi woman and her children caught in the middle of the Bangladesh struggle for independence and it was just lovely to read about it through the eyes of ordinary people.

It provides some cultural insights and a glimpse into a not too distant history that could all too easily be unknown or forgotten by people who aren’t connected with the people of Bangladesh.

This was my reading the world choice for Bangladesh. I’d give it 3.5 stars. This is probably one of the better reads I’ve done so far for the reading the world challenge, but there was still something missing for me a bit so I can’t give it a four or five. Overall though it was a quick read, an interesting story, and as always, I learned about historical events that I’d never been taught about before. If you are completing the same challenge, I’d highly recommend this pick for Bangladesh.

Read this for English Literature in Highschool. Pretty interesting to learn about Bangladesh during a period of war.
