I really enjoyed this well written story of a Bangladeshi woman and her children caught in the middle of the Bangladesh struggle for independence and it was just lovely to read about it through the eyes of ordinary people.

It provides some cultural insights and a glimpse into a not too distant history that could all too easily be unknown or forgotten by people who aren’t connected with the people of Bangladesh.
